Available for auction is this 1979 Leyland Mini Moke finished in Yellow over a Black vinyl interior. The British Motor Company initially designed the Moke as a lightweight military vehicle, but later went on to be marketed worldwide as an economical, simple-to-maintain, and lightweight leisure vehicle under the Austin, Morris, Moke, and Leyland names. This 1979 example was acquired by the seller in 2021 in Athens, Greece, and was subsequently imported in January of this year. It features a 998cc inline-four cylinder engine mated to a 4-speed manual transmission, a removable canvas top, a custom upholstered interior, a set of upgraded 15” wheels, and more. Having been recently serviced, this Moke is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.
Sir Alec Issigonis, who also created the original Mini, was in charge of creating the Moke's original design. This example is finished in yellow and is said to have been repainted prior to the seller's acquisition in 2021. The seller states that the finish remains in good overall condition, and notes the paint would benefit from polishing. Additional images can be found in the gallery. Details include a canvas Bimini-style soft top, a tow hitch, black tubular bumpers, a single side-view mirror, and a set of upgraded 15” wheels which are dressed in Constancy LY688 tires. The seller notes that new tail and signal lights have been installed under their ownership.
The four-place cabin is upholstered in black vinyl with custom yellow piping and the footwells are lined with black carpets. The spartan interior features a three-spoke steering wheel and a centrally oriented speedometer/odometer. The seller confirms that all gauges and accessories remain functional.
Power comes from a 998cc inline-four-cylinder engine which drives the front wheels by way of a 4-speed manual transaxle. Stopping power is provided by boosted front discs and rear drums. The seller notes that when the car was imported earlier this year, a service was preferred that included fresh fluids as well as new belts and spark plugs.
This sale will include a Vermont registration certificate.

@Locofeo I think those were the new electric mokes.
Formula 1 used 3 of these at the Miami Grand Prix to cart the top 3 drivers from their cars to the podium winner circle… pretty cool to see one on here now!
