Now up for auction is this 1979 Datsun S30 280ZX finished in Sky Blue Metallic over a black interior. This desirable 5-speed 1979 example is said to have been purchased by the seller from its longtime previous owner in Utah approximately one year ago. This 280ZX has since undergone extensive cosmetic refurbishment as well as a mechanical overhaul by a local Datsun specialist. With approximately 79k miles currently showing on the odometer, this 280ZX is now being offered for auction by its seller in Nevada.
This Datsun is reported to have been refinished in its original Sky Blue Metallic color some years ago under previous ownership. In the last year, the seller brought this example to a reputable body shop to have the lower rocker panels replaced and painted along with the refinishing of several other areas for cosmetic purposes. The paint is now said to be in very good overall condition, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery. LED headlights have been installed for improved visibility and the original 14" wheels were also dressed in new Matrix Tour RS tires within the last year.
Inside, the black interior features new carpeting and upholstery installed under the current ownership. Other recent improvements include rebuilt instrument gauges, new floor mats, new upgraded dashboard lights, a power antenna, an added air conditioning system, a backup camera, and an upgraded sound system consisting of a modern touchscreen Bluetooth radio, speakers, and a subwoofer. A Viper alarm system has also been installed and the seller reports all gauges and accessories to be working properly.
This 280ZX is equipped with a naturally aspirated 2.8 L L28E inline-6 fuel-injected engine rated at 135 HP and 144 lb.-ft of torque, which drives the rear wheels through an optional 5-speed manual gearbox. Since the seller’s purchase, this Datsun was brought to a local specialist to undergo mechanical refurbishment including electrical, exhaust, and shifter repair, fluid and filter changes, a new battery, alternator, and any other necessary items to ensure proper running order. This 280ZX is reported to be in excellent driving condition at this time.
This sale will include an original owner's manuals, alarm system fob, and a clean title. A classic sports car icon with a massive following, this 5-speed 280ZX is an excellent choice for any passionate enthusiast.

Hi,
I just wanted to inform prospective bidders that a similar 1979 280ZX was recently sold on BAT for $17k and this one is in much better condition. Also, for your knowledge, this vehicle was named "Motor Trend Import Car of the Year" in their March 1979 issue. I have a copy the issue and I will include it with the sale.
Bid in the amount of $13,001
@steveb109 Thank you for the kind words. You’ll enjoy looking at it and driving it if you’re the winning bidder. I get positive comments and horns honking every time I drive it. I even had a woman follow me home just to show it to her teenage son because she had one in the past too!
Wow, this is a beauty and brings back memories. Bought a new 76 Datsun 280Z same colour about 44 years ago. Was a great driver - fast and smooth. This baby looks equally nice. I will keep an eye on this as it is very tempting. Looks to be in very good condition.
Hi,
I'm the current owner of this beautiful Datsun 280ZX. As you can see from the pictures, it is in great condition. It drives just as nice as it looks. It now has the modern conveniences that drivers like including a great sounding Bluetooth stereo system with a handsfree cell phone feature, navigation, and a backup camera. I also added a Viper alarm system to protect this beauty from possible theft. Everything works well and this vehicle has many more years of life left in it for someone else to enjoy.
