BMW’s original 3-Series, the E21 was designed by Paul Bracq and produced at the BMW factory in Munich, Germany, from 1975 until 1983. In 1977, the 320 model switched from the M10 four-cylinder engine to the more powerful M20 inline-six featuring a Solex 4-barrel downdraft carburetor. This non-sunroof 1979 example was originally produced for the European market and features a 5-speed manual transmission sending power to the rear wheels. It was acquired by the seller from a prominent BMW collector and is now being offered for auction out of Maryland showing just under 100k kilometers on the odometer.

The BMW E21 was the successor to the classic 02-Series and was designed with a resemblance to the E12 5-Series. It features traditional BMW styling cues including its front kidney grilles and Hofmeister kink C-pillars. This 1979 example is finished in Chamonix White and is equipped with European-spec bumpers, quad headlamps, a “320” grille badge, polished mirrors and window trim, black body moldings, and factory 13” Turbine 10-spoke wheels. The car rides on Brillantis 2 radial tires from 2021 which are said to have about 95% tread remaining. The seller describes the exterior to be in original condition with some chips and imperfections as depicted in the photo gallery. The seller adds that the bumpers, glass, and lenses remain in very good condition.

The cabin is trimmed in blue vinyl with matching cloth seat centers and carpeting. Equipment includes a four-spoke steering wheel, manual window cranks, a heater, a quartz clock, metric instrumentation, German-labeled switchgear, and an aftermarket stereo. The seller reports all gauges and accessories to be fully functional and describes the interior to be in excellent condition without any cracks in the dashboard. The seat covers and carpeting are also believed to have been previously replaced based on their newer appearance.

This E21 is equipped with a 2.0-liter M20 inline-six engine featuring a Solex carburetor. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 5-speed manual transmission and stopping power comes from disc brakes in the front and drum brakes in the rear. The seller indicates a lubrication, oil, and filter service was recently completed along with a Maryland state inspection.

This sale will include some documentation, a toolkit, a spare tire, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know:This is a rare 6-cylinder carbureted 320, not to be mistaken with a 4-cylinder 320i. The car appears to be unrestored, rust-free, always well-maintained and loved. The 320 runs, drives, and sounds amazing and will be a great daily driver or collectible.”

The fact that this is a Euro car, already coming with the euro bumpers opposed to ugly diving boards (US Model) and no US side markers, who ever wins this is already ahead of most! I spent alot of money converting mine to look like this Gem
