We are pleased to offer for auction this 1979 911 RS backdate. Created by well-known Porsche restoration and customization shop, RS Werks, this 911 represents an extremely high-level quality of build. This backdate was originally handcrafted for a client in 2015 before being traded in for a new build just this year. It features a rebuilt 3.0L engine, tasteful RS-style components, and a handful of performance upgrades that are sure to impress it's next owner. Currently residing in Parkesburg, PA, this custom build is now being offered in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition with just 1k miles driven by its previous owner.
Starting with a very solid 1979 911 SC , the car was fitted with new steel fenders along with an early 911 long hood. In true RS fashion, it was then fitted with multiple hand-selected components including a Stratton ducktail, aero mirrors, steel bumperettes, euro taillights, H4 headlights, pop-out front ventilation windows, and pop-out rear quarter windows. Once the metalwork was completed, the car was then professionally refinished in period correct Tangerine. Currently installed are 15” Fuchs wheels that seamlessly hug the wheel wells for an aggressive stance. Overall, this sunroof coupe is showing to be in exceptional overall condition.
Inside, you will find a custom interior that holds a very nice fit and finish. Equipped with tasteful vintage RS essentials, this interior is sure to provide that visceral feeling so many desire. Holding the driver and passenger in place are custom black leather Peptia bucket seats with houndstooth inserts. Additional features include RS light weight door cards, MOMO Prototipo vintage steering wheel, 917-style shift-knob, Silver Dot gauges, rear seat delete, a custom Roll bar, and a custom leather stitched engine compartment.
Power comes from a rebuilt 3.0L flat-six engine that is connected to a coveted 915 aluminum transmission that is said to shift with ease. This engine was paired with a selection of upgrades such as Weber carburetors, K&N air filter, 2 in 2 out sport exhaust, SSI heat exchangers, and a Carrera chain tensioner upgrade. Taking this 911’s already stellar handling to the next level are upgraded sway bars with adjustable links and Bilstein struts in the rear. The car is said to be in excellent running condition and upon opening the rear deck-lid, you will instantly notice the attention to detail that was put into this project.
The sale will include 1 key, service records, and documentation of the build.
