Up for auction is this 1978 Porsche 930 Turbo Coupe, #414 out of 461 made for the U.S. market that year. Highlighting an extremely rare color, and is believed to be the only of that adorns a paint-to-sample Medium Green Metallic over a White leather interior. Combined with a handful of other unique features, this 911 is not to be overlooked. It is now being offered with 50k miles showing on the odometer by a motivated seller in Nevada.
Finished in Medium Green Metallic, it is believed that the top portion of the car was refinished in the original color due to sun fading. The exterior as a whole is said to be in great condition with some minor wear as to be expected with a vehicle of this age. Detailed images are available in the photo gallery. This Turbo rides on factory black Fuchs wheels that wear a set of Toyo Proxy tires dated from 2010.
The unique nature of this Turbo is continued throughout the interior with factory White leather with a contrasting green carpeting. It is stated to remain in excellent condition with only slight signs of wear as outlined in the gallery photos. All electronics are said to be fully functional. An aftermarket set of speakers seemed to have been installed years back, however, the car currently stands in mostly original condition with its factory sound system.
This 930 Turbo is said to retain its number’s matching 3.3L flat-six turbo engine that produces 265HP and 291 lb-ft torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a smooth 4-speed manual transaxle. Although documentation is not available, this 930 is believed to have received an engine out reseal and rebuilt fuel injection system many years ago.
This one-of-a-kind 911 is said to have earned honors at the annual Naples, Florida event, PCA Werks Reunion in Amelia Island, Florida and 2 PCA Parades.
This car is being offered with a clear title, master key, tool kit, factory books and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.

@dhuckabay The PPI just provided the ability to get the bidding more accurate. With 10kish maybe 15k the car should be pretty well sorted. You just have to bid with that budget in mind. It will be quite the 930 turbo with some attention and love.
@Carrerafan thank you for the feedback. We rely on the information provided to us by the seller. Due to the lack of history/knowledge, we requested they get this PPI done to be as transparent as possible to our bidders and the PCAR community
We still find this to be a rare and interesting car, the PPI will be a tool to help you bid accordingly .
PCARMARKET Team
Was going to bid on this until the PPI came up. Looks like a mess
Wow, that’s quite a PPI!! I especially like the part about rodent damage. The description is so far off base in light of the PPI. Pcar, you guys are great and I’m sure you’re mostly hands off, caveat emptor, but the description should be taken down in light of the PPI IMO! “Great condition,” “excellent condition,” “minor wear.” LOL. Peace out.
@Joesnovak PPI was added to the gallery.
Bid in the amount of $60,000
@SierraDavid Hello. We have not received any uploads or emails from you. We tried contacting you this morning to get the file so that it can be added to the listing. Please contact us back so that we can get it added for you.
@Joesnovak Hello and thank you for your patience I have the PPI and have tried to post to the listing. No luck. I have a call into Pcarmarket for assistence.
You there (seller)
I will offer a buy out if interest
PPI done?
What is reserve
I have seen that before on Porsche of the vintage. Most are leather, this car with 50 miles was not used much in it life and the leather dried out, and cracked. Someone tried to make it look better but painting it black
No big deal needs replace or better yet re-leather these molds.
Sir you must understand that the car is 41 years old and it varies widely on how they were taken care off...
Plus leather seeing dry conditions is very common. I have been seeing these cars for 40 years, most CA or high sun areas have major leather dash, seats etc
Notice the dash is a new dash from a good vendor
The seats
Look good for white and 41 years old
Thx
@TheBaron I agree I have owned several of these too and have never seen one decay like this. I wish I could offer an explanation.Maybe sun exposure or a nervous owner.
I have owned a dozen Early Turbos over the past three decades (still own a ‘75) and I can honestly say that I have NEVER seen a kneepad ( just to the left of the ashtray) with that kind of wear and decay? I have seen Early Turbos with 150,000 miles on them that do not have that level of wear/decay ?? Can anyone shed some light on this unusual situation?
@Joesnovak We might have the results this afternoon for the PPI
@SierraDavid Thank you sir, and for following up on my questions
@LP500S Thank you for your compliments and interest. The color combination is outstanding . Unfortunately we don't have any additional documentation. We are taking for a PPI today.
@ERLY911 Thank you for your interest. You have made some great observations. Will try to get a PPI and post before auction ends
@Joesnovak Thank you for your interest in our Porsche 930. we appreciate your patience I have looked online and found where the car sold at an online auction in 2001. We don't have any info on being offered for sale last year. I did have the opportunity to drive the car for about 50 miles and runs and drives exceptionally well. Sorry we don't have any documentation that the miles are actual. we do have the owners manual however the service manual in missing.. Tires and a full service would be recommended. The car has had some paint work no doubt. The interior is in excellent condition with the exception at one time there were over sized speaker covers on the doors and they have left impressions on the door panels. We are a licensed Nevada Dealer offering the car for sale. Will check to see if Fuchs are correct
@bmdaia Thank you for your compliment.
Spectacular color combo. Obviously, someone has done some work in the engine compartment. Lack of documentation showing what was done will be a ding. A recent PPI would be money well spent by the seller. I’d also be willing to cut the seller a little slack in not responding within 20 hours. Maybe out searching for toilet paper??
Nice car but no feedback from the owner about my questions.
this 930 is believed to have received an engine out reseal and rebuilt fuel injection system many years ago
I am loving this car, and this is my first comment on PCAR market. Very cool car. Very cool site. Is a car like this not worth more commentary, documentation, history? This feels like a craigslist ad and not a thorough listing to attract a real buyer, like myself.
That car was for sale last summer, does a dealer own the car or private owner?
Can the miles be documented?
Tires are flat out worthless, are those matching number Fuchs for a 1978?
How is the paint and interior from 1 to 10, 10 being the highest.
Do you have the original books with stamps?
Do you have a PPI done?
Thanks
Highly interested
Absolutely magnificent GLWA!
