This 1978 Porsche 911SC Targa was originally delivered by Rodgers Porsche of Knoxville, Tennessee, finished in rare Fern Green over Cork leather upholstery. The car is said to have remained with the same family in Florida from 2005 until 2017 when it was sold and imported to Europe. It was purchased by the current owner in 2019 and subsequently treated to a custom multi-year restoration at a cost of over €56k in parts with more than 700 hours of labor. This Targa has been refinished in its original color and fitted with custom tartan-trimmed Rally ST sport seats, a 917-style wooden shift knob, and RSR-style Fuchs wheels. The brakes, suspension, and gearbox have been overhauled, and the matching numbers - originally a 3.0-liter flat-six has been completely rebuilt and upgraded to a short-stroke 3.2-liter by means of 95 to 98mm bored and nikasil-coated cylinders, high compression JE Pistons with 964 camshafts, a bespoke fully programmable, digital fuel & ignition system with original K-Jetronic setup looks and a high-flow SSI exhaust system with Dansk muffler. The result is 964-rivalling power and torque in a chassis weighing a substantial 200kg less than a 964. This comprehensively restored 911SC "evo" is now being offered for auction out of Belgium accompanied by an extensive service history file and the original maintenance booklet.
Among the rarest vintage Porsche colors of all, Fern Green (273) was offered for the 1978 model year only. In 2020, this 911SC was placed on a Celette jig where its bodywork was restored before being refinished in its original factory color. The 6" and 7” wide 16” Fuchs wheels have been replaced by restored 7 & 8” wide Fuchs wheels dressed in new Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires. Equipment includes a brushed aluminum targa bar, a removable black roof panel, a heated glass rear window, front fog lights, Euro-spec bumperettes, dual mirrors, and custom orange Porsche script graphics above the rockers. The seller describes the vibrant paintwork as in excellent condition, save for some small stone chips on the front end, mirrors, and wheel arches. Its underside has never been dry-ice blasted, which the next owner could attend to if they wished. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The re-trimmed Cork leather interior features a pair of custom BF Torino Rally ST sport seats with tartan cloth inserts. Other accessories include a black three-spoke steering wheel, a Shaltwerk precision shifter, a 917-style wooden shift knob, and Bluetooth audio connectivity to Polk speakers, a JBL amplifier, and a Helix subwoofer.
The original 3.0-liter flat-six engine was rebuilt in 2020 including new chains, tensioners, and valve guides. The 5-speed 915 manual gearbox was rebuilt around the same time as the engine along with the brakes and suspension. In April 2023, spark plugs were replaced and a thorough health check was performed including fuel pressure, all sensors, compression test, borescope, idle valve, and test drive including EF ignitions log and CO adjustment. The car was last serviced in September 2023 including oil change + oil filter change and valve clearance adjustment. An MSD ignition + ignition coil, Fabspeed high-performance Airbox Cover, and a MAP sensor were fitted and the car was set up with a focus on midrange torque. In November 2023 the 3rd gear synchronizer and clutch release bearing were replaced, a brake pressure regulator was installed, and the brake fluid was replaced. A comprehensive log of all works performed under current ownership is available upon request.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, the original service booklet, and extensive maintenance records documenting over €140k of investment.
The seller would like you to know: "Here’s your opportunity to buy a - no cost spared - comprehensively restored and extensively but subtly upgraded 911 SC evo delivering an unrivalled driving experience in a straight line and through the curves next to drop-dead gorgeous curb appeal. @alraf here is an earlier comment from the seller:
"The car doesn't have a headunit. I play music directly from my smartphone. Below the details of the audio system setup :
• Ampire BTR100X BT bluetooth module
• JBL Stage A6004 amplifier = 60 watts RMS x 4

Is that a multi-media screen in the central console (in front of the gear shifter)?
@Carrerafan Post bodywork Celette Naja measurement documents have been added to the gallery (first page = image 206, second page = image 205). Don't hesitate to ask should you have any other questions. I'll gladly answer and document.
@Carrerafan Hi @Carrerafan thank you for your interest. The car sustained accident damage on the right front and rear quarter panels during its time in the US, where it was subsequently repaired. It was imported from a dry state in rust-free condition so we didn't take the car back to bare metal. Before starting bodywork, end of 2020, we had a third party do a Celette Naja chassis measurement which showed passenger side front suspension front mounting point was 11.2mm to the rear and rear mounting point 8.7mm to the rear. No chassis problems at the rear. The bodyshop has professionally repaired the older damage on the Celette Jig. Post bodywork Celette Naja measurement documents problem was properly solved.
@tom_de_herdt she looks great! Who did the work? When the car was repainted was it taken down to bare metal? Any issues or damage found? Thanks
@Kevinmr Thank you for clarifying that @Kevinmr much appreciated. I’m not familiar with smog regulations so can’t make an educated statement.
I have the original exhaust system but in my humble opinion the engine management plays an important role as well. It has a fully programmable engine management system, if any SC could be setup to pass stringent emission test, this is the one. It's currently mapped for maximum midrange torque but you could have it remapped for optimal fuel economy and lowest possible emissions.

@outofexile every car 1976 and later needs to comply with smog requirements. There are limited exceptions for various zip codes for regular smog checks (for registration), but for a later sale to anyone in Calif the car would have to pass a smog check. Based on the description of this car (as stated it has a modified exhaust system), it is unlikely to pass a Calif smog check as currently equipped. Just my opinion/experience.

@outofexile Thank you for your interest @outofexile. I am not familiar with smog but the car does have a modified exhaust. I can supply the stock one as well. I assume someone from the states reading your comment could answer your question In a more educated way 😉

Would this car need a smog for CA? It’s pre 1975. Or is a smog required after import? Thanks.

@bertsboat Hi @bertsboat, thank you for your interest in my 911 SC targa "evo". She's called Jade.
The +56 K€ parts and the +700 hours of work done to get her to a better Power to Weight Ratio than a 964 Carrera RS with the gearbox and handling to match next to drop-dead gorgeous curb appeal, has been done by best-in-class professionals, skilled, experienced and passionate about aircooled 911's, and it is all documented in a inch thick folder that is included in the sale.
I just made the full dashboard photo and will upload it now in he gallery. Don't hesitate to ask should you have any other questions. I'll gladly answer and document.
It’s all in the details. Nice paint and interior. Elbow grease is time consuming but cheap. A full dashboard picture would help. Thanks. Shipping by sea has come way down these days.
@Hubbysentme Nope @Hubbysentme, she's good to go for any distance including trans-Europe and/or trans-Am roadtrips
@Hubbysentme It kinda suits her dual personality @Hubbysentme
@Hubbysentme Hi @Hubbysentme, thank you for your interest.
I do have the original unrestored front and rear seats and they are included in the sale. A 1978 SC didn't have seatbelts for rear passengers so those I do not have.
Please note that rear seats is some countries are illegal if the front seats don't tilt forward to allow easy entry to and exit from the rear seats for the rear seat passengers. Hence the current set-up including rear seat delete.
I live approximately 5 hours drive from Antwerp. Anything that would prevent her from making that drive if I would be so lucky to win?
Also...love the name "Jade" 😀
Do you have the rear seats/seat belts? Would that be included?

@Jake7 Exactly @Jake7
@Jake7 Hi @Jake7, thank you for your interest. That is a license plate holder.
Or is it just a license plate holder?
Can you provide further detail on the front spoiler: in particular the insert between the fog lights? Is this in inlet to provide additional air flow to a front oil cooler?
Thanks.
@Lstepp4re Thank you @Lstepp4re.
@probinson1627 Hi @probinson1627. The car doesn't have a headunit. I play music directly from my smartphone. Below the details of the audio system setup :

@glennr Thank you for the compliment @glennr. The seats are adjustable in 2 ways : forward and backward. That's it. I do like to add that some of my friends that experience back problems in their 964's, 993's or 996's, and have driven Jade on roadtrips, were amazed by the support these seats give. No back problems whatsoever.
Should you prefer the original unrestored seats, I still have them in storage.
@Gutwrencher Thank you for the appreciation @GutwrencherI. I agree she's gorgeous. I completely fell in love with this color combo when doing the PPI, and saw before my eyes how I would personalise her to my taste and performance expectations so I just bought her and began the process. Never regretted that.
@sportscarguy3 Hi @sportscarguy3, thank you for showing an interest in my 911 SC targa "evo". She's called Jade.
I don't have an exact quote on shipping the car to San Francisco or Oakland California but Antwerp - where I live - has one o' the biggest ports of Antwerp so I can get you in touch with a shipper. I also have a contact in New Jersey, experienced in importing cars from Europe, so that might help as well.
The exhaust is a full SSI system. Not a single component from the OEM system used (I still have the OEM system in storage). Given it has a fully programmable engine management system, if any SC could be setup to pass stringent emission test, this is the one. It's currently mapped for maximum midrange torque but you could have it remapped for optimal fuel economy and lowest possible emissions.
Kind regards,
Tom

Where is the radio, and what is it?
Beautiful car, seller. Could you please provide details on the adjustability of the seats: in which directions they can be adjusted? Thank you.
Not typically a fan of green Porsches but this one looks fantastic.
Very interesting Porsche very good looking ,certainly nicely upgraded
Wondering about the cost to have it shipped to San Francisco or Oakland California
Probably quite a bit. I would imagine any thoughts on this seller
Also concerned about California emissions and passing Smog requirements here in northern California
Was the exhaust work upgraded from the factory conditions and were the catalytic converter‘s originally or not?
Appreciate the information
