Imported from Europe in 1985, this 1978 Porsche 911SC Targa has been customized with a cabriolet body conversion, a refinish in Silver Metallic, and several appointments drawing inspiration from other iconic 911 models including the 930. The cabin was restored and customized by Paterek Brothers Inc. in Chatham, New Jersey, while the engine was rebuilt and turbocharged by Protosport in Pompton Plains, New Jersey, including the fitment of 3.2 Mahle pistons and cylinders, a Carrera Motronic conversion with Bosch DME performance software, 930 valve covers, a lightweight Kevlar clutch, a short shift kit, 930 tie rods, and much more. Showing approximately 128k miles on the odometer, this unique 911 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Nevada.
Originally specified as a Targa model, this 911SC was converted to a cabriolet with a black retractable soft top alongside a professional refinish in Silver Metallic in the late 1980s. Customizations include integrated front fog lights, a front chin spoiler, a rear 964 active spoiler, H4 headlights with "city light" bulbs, and 18” three-piece Cup 2-style wheels with new tires reportedly mounted less than 1k miles ago. Other details include impact bumpers, clear taillights, rear mudflaps, and dual exhaust outlets. The seller notes the paint has been preserved by a layer of clear paint protection film which was recently removed, and some minor imperfections are present. Additional images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin was completely restored by Paterek Brothers Inc. in 1999, including a full leather dash, knee pads, door caps, RS America door panels, and a rear seat. Additional features include a Momo leather shift boot, a Porsche short shift kit, a 930 center leather console with custom gauges, a Das Sport roll cage (PCA/SCCA legal) with full leather covering over ¼” high-density foam padding, a no-holes 6-point harness mounting system, Sparco Star II lightweight seats, Turbo stainless steel door sills, and custom brushed aluminum gauge bezels from North Hollywood Speedometer. Other upgrades include an 11,000 RPM tachometer, new OEM sun visors, a Porsche Turbo-style boost gauge, ADS speakers, a Pioneer head unit, and a Class A stainless steel watt amplifier. The seller notes the carpets, mats, and seat covers show minor signs of wear.
The air-cooled flat-six engine was fully rebuilt at approximately 99k miles by Protosport in Pompton Plains, NJ. The rebuild included a displacement increase to 3.2 liters with Mahle pistons and cylinders, a complete Carrera Motronic conversion with a Bosch DME system, and Protosport performance software. Power is transmitted through a rebuilt 5-speed manual transmission, which is said to remain under warranty for approximately 6 more months. Enhancements also include Raceware studs, 3.3 heads with a competition valve job, a lightweight Kevlar clutch, 930 Turbo valve covers, a Garrett Air Research turbo, an HKS wastegate with a 1 bar boost spring, a blow-off valve, and a custom Protosport high-flow exhaust with a catalytic converter for smog compliance. Additional features include a Protosport fuel pressure regulator, custom aluminum intercooler, Crane high-performance CD ignition and coil, stainless steel OEM spark plug wires, Bosch quad plus 4 platinum spark plugs, a Lemke Design fender mount oil cooler, an upgraded Carrera alternator, Porsche Club Sport mounts, pressure-fed chain tensioners, and a factory oil pump/venturi screen update with a lightweight finned aluminum oil pump cover. Minor oil drops have been observed when the car is parked. The suspension and brake components listed by the seller are provided below:

This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Let's start with if you are a Porsche Purist, this is not your car. This is a driver’s car. No electronic nannies to limit you other than a 6,000-rpm rev limiter. It is all the drivers in this car. Estimated 210 HP to the wheels. You really need to row the gears fast when that turbo kicks in. This is an outlaw-style stealth turbo convertible with up-to-date style and performance.”

It is just a few drops when the car sits. The more it is driven, the better it does. I just let it sit to long with no use.
I had the engine out to put in the new trans. It looks like it is somewhere up high towards the front of the motor. I took care of any other gaskets that I could see. I do have the rest of a full gasket kit to go with the car.
Any idea where the oil is leaking from

Perhaps a dumb question, but are those cushions in the seats removable/replaceable or are they fully attached with the Sparco Star II's? Tried doing a quick search online, but didn't see anything too specific to those seats.

Only an hour left. Sorry, I can't give this car away. But my final incentive is I can off a free trailer delivery anywhere with 500 miles of Reno, NV if the low reserve is met. Bid Fast, Bit often! Thank you looking.
I just uploaded a new video of the underside of the car. You can see that it is rust free original with no repairs. It is on my lift where is lives most of the year. It doesn't get used enough so that's why I am offering it for sale.
A new video showing the underside of the vehicle has been added to the listing page.
I have receipts totaling over $70,000 for this build, not including the car. Everything was done to keep it original Porsche. Where will find a rust free car in this beautiful condition for such a low price?
This is one fast car and perfect for this time of year. Someone can be driving a 911 convertible turbo for a very good deal!

@kfee No sir I do not. The conversion was done by the previous owner. I do not have an actual weight of the car but I would guess with the suspension stiffeners, roll bar, bigger brakes, turbo and minus the Targa, it may have added 300 lbs
@Scrooge1 I was told by the previous owner that the car was dyno'ed after the rebuild and turbo install was completed. I do not have any documentation to support that. The car runs through the gears very quickly with great power and speed. Seat of the pants tells me that the numbers are close to that. Much faster then a stock 1978 911.
Do you still own the targa parts?
Do you have an idea of the total weight?
Thank you in advance
210 HP to the wheels, as stated above by the seller???
