Up for auction is this well-built and tastefully modified 1978 Porsche 911 SC.  Having been a PCA concours winner in its past ownership, this SC is now set up as a true driving enthusiasts road car with track car capabilities.  The current purchased this 911 from a friend around 5 years ago.  Being a Florida car, this SC was seldom exposed to harsh weather and is said to have been well cared for its entire life and features a recent engine rebuild.  The owner labels this car as a true "head turner".

The Arctic Silver paint is stated to have had one professional respray at some point in its life and shows very well with road going wear to the front end and chips on the corner of the drivers door.  The photo gallery will show the true overall condition of this 911.  Keeping the track car theme, the owner has removed a few exterior features including the power antenna, fog lights, and headlamp washers.  A few additions to the exterior include an OEM front metal valance with integral rubber "lip" and two Rennline tow hooks.  The car currently wears a set of factory Fuchs wheels with brand new TOYO R888R tires specifically made for daily driving.  The sale will also include a set of freshly black powder-coated BBS wheels with TOYO RR track tires.

Inside, you will find a fully custom built interior that means business.  Having been completely stripped including the removal of the HVAC and stereo, this minimalist interior now features two custom black and red Corbeau racing seats with G-Force 5-point harnesses, a custom roll bar, MOMO steering wheel, and custom-fabricated aluminum door panels with RS nylon door pulls.

Power comes from a completely rebuilt 3.0L flat-six engine that has been dyno tested and rated at approximately 186HP.  The seller states that the engine rebuild took place in 2004 with full documentation showing all work performed.  Additionally, this 911 features a completely rebuilt factory 5-speed 915 manual transmission.  Having been tracked less than a dozen times, the owner states that a post track go-around is performed each time including replaced Amsoil "Z-Rod" oil at season end.  The seller emphasizes that this car is primarily used a weekend cruiser.

Below is an extensive list of upgrades on this car:

  • Front sway bar
  • Both front calipers rebuilt.
  • F & R Pagid yellow track brake pads (New)
  • Cup Car front brake cooler diffusers
  • Short shift kit
  • New Bilstein track shocks (non-adjustable) with valves set specifically for the car
  • Corner balanced for driver weight of 190 lbs

@Ryan Hi, Ryan & thanks for your interest...it IS an awesome car...fun to drive & a real head-turner.

    Car is rust free.
None of the removed parts were saved.
Re-spray was in original color: Arctic Silver
    Sunroof works
Minor oil drips, like them all
Depending on where oil sits in cylinders in the
diametrically opposed cylinders, it will blow
minor smoke on start (about 40% of the time)
There is a pic from outside the car looking into rear
Headliner is perfect, with black tape covering holes
    where visits removed.

Hope I covered everything...Reach out if I can be of further help. Car maintained by CS Motorsports, Porsche specialists who build/support Cup Cars, Gt’s, etc at tracks all over the country. You are welcome to Google/call them. Ask for Chris Schuh, and we will share about the car. Be sure to tell Heather, who will answer the phone that it’s important you speak with Chris to discuss Jeff Cowie’s 911SC

Hi jeff, love the car! I had a few questions that I don't believe have been addressed in the listing.

    1. What is the rust situation?
    2. Any underbody/ healiner/ smugglers box/ rear seat- area photos?
    3. Any original parts for the car available that were removed? (ie. hvac/ interior)
    4. I'm assuming this color is original, just resprayed?
    5. Does it smoke/ leak oil after sitting?
    6. Does the sunroof work?
