Now available for auction is an incredible 1978 Porsche RSR Tribute crafted by Passion Driven Restoration out of Delaware. A no-expense spared build, this machine highlights a completely rebuilt and numbers matching short stroke 3.2 L flat-six engine along with a long list of performance and high-end cosmetic upgrades. As previously listed on PCARMARKET, this show-quality outlaw is now displaying just over 2k-miles on the odometer.
Starting with a structurally solid 1978 SC donor, a steel RSR-style wide-body and long-hood backdate were performed. Photographic documentation of the donor car (pre-build) and the build process are provided in the gallery photos. The Olympic Blue paint has been applied to an extremely high standard which is clear when viewing the gallery photos. Additionally, paint protection film has been added to the hood and bumper along with a full-exterior application of ceramic coating. Exterior enhancements noted by the seller are:
This build has been appointed with a custom black leather interior that features GTS Classic seats w/ headrests and houndstooth inserts. Upon entering the cockpit, you will immediately notice the attention to detail that was put into building this RSR. A Prototipo custom leather steering wheel and custom gauges with exterior color-matched speedometer can be found in site. Some other noteworthy features include Leather RS door panels, German square weave carpet, Alcantara headliner, 1973-style dash fascia with basket weave leather insert, Restored 1973-style gauges, and a Porsche classic radio w/ Bluetooth connectivity and GPS navigation. The seller also notes that the AC system has recently been completely service and the sound system has been upgraded. All electronics are said to be in working order
The matching-numbers 3.0 L motor has been upgraded to a 3.2 L unit during a very comprehensive, nut and bolt rebuild. Some key details about the motor and completely refreshed transmission:
More recent additions prior to listing for auction include a full motorsport alignment and corner balance, 89' Carrera alternator and fan housing upgrade and full seasonal service.
The sale will include one key, documentation and a clear title.

He actually did a video in my garage when he delivered my car to me.

I know the builder of this car. He is one of the finest Porsche techs you will ever meet. I was fortunate enough to see this car evolution from scratch to its completion. I was fortunate enough to meet the builder back when this car was being created. He was also kind enough to basically let me watch anytime I wanted. The attention to detail is second to none. There is NO way to be disappointed by this car.
When you're considering these types of builds, it comes down to two things. Who built it, and attention to the details. Well on the who, you're getting a car from one of the absolute best in the business. On the details, you're getting a car that every single aspect has been well thought out, properly planned and executed. Every aspect of this car is properly engineered to work with the others. The attention to detail is second to none.
Good luck to the new owner. This car is worth every penny of the eventual price.

To whomever built this, THANK YOU for keeping a functioning AC system. Never understand why they are torn out of these builds, as they never see a track. They are meant to be driven and enjoyed - comfortably. Good on you. Next owner needs to drive the heck out of this thing. Helluva’ car.
This kind of outlaw build may not be for everyone...but it's absolutely for me. I'm sorry that I'm not in a position to bid on it. Wow!
@Umbe3 i will try and find out as close as possible.
How much horsepower is the reworked engine producing?
I could stare at this car all day.
