Available for auction is this 1978 Cadillac Sedan DeVille finished in Platinum Metallic over a Grey leather interior. In 1977, the fifth generation DeVille was introduced featuring a smaller and lighter overall design while also incorporating more leg and headroom within the cabin. This 1978 example was acquired by the seller approximately four years ago as part of their Pedigree Collection. It features wire wheel covers, an Elk Grain vinyl roof, power-adjustable front seats, Twilight Sentinel headlights, and more. Having recently received a comprehensive service, this DeVille is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.
For 1978 the Sedan DeVille received a redesigned grille and hood ornament, and new vertical tail lamps mounted within chrome bumper end caps. This example is finished in Platinum Silver with an Elk grain vinyl roof in grey. Some chips are noted on the front end due to normal road use, and the finish has been paint-corrected and treated with a ceramic coating. A collection of detailed images can be found in the gallery. Equipment includes chrome bumpers and trim, Opera Lamps, and 15” wheels with simulated wire wheel covers. The wheels are dressed in a set of Dean Quasar Plus whitewall tires.
The cabin is upholstered in grey leather with faux wood trim accenting the steering wheel, dashboard, and door panels. Amenities include power-adjustable front seats, cruise control, an AM/FM radio with an eight-track player, a power-operated radio antenna, Twilight Sentinel headlights with Guide Matic control, delay windshield wipers, and a rear window defroster. The windows wear a layer of removable ceramic UV tint, and the air conditioning compressor and blower motor were replaced about one year ago. The seller confirms that all gauges, electronics, and accessories remain functional.
Power comes from a carbureted 425ci V8 that drives the rear wheels by way of a column-shifted TH400 three-speed automatic transmission. A comprehensive service was carried out within the last year which included new shocks, transmission and motor mounts, valve cover gaskets, blower motor, air conditioning compressor, spark plugs, ignition wires, distributor cap and rotor, and radiator, as well as flushes of the brake fluid, engine oil, and coolant. A new catalytic converter, battery, alternator, brake pads, and rotors were also installed under current ownership.
This sale will include a clean title.

@PEDIGREE11 @PEDIGREE11. I figured from memory at that time that those rpo stickers did not appear in trunk or glove box until at least 1980+ since you are oir Cadillac leader, I knew you would have the answer. Thank you. This is simply a highly optioned Deville regardless whether we have the window sticker or an rpo decal
@Carfan1978 unfortunately, no, they did not put those stickers on these cars. When I saw your question I went to the car to double check.
Did the GM cars of this era have an RPO type sticker (list of options from factory) anywhere so we could see how many factory options were left off this car. I know it does not have sunroof and maybe not the mirror thermometer but those are not a detriment to me. Thank you.

@fl707qhb 221.2 inches and click on contact seller if you would like to talk on the phone.
Please supply bumper to bumper length (has to fit in my garage) and a phone number I can call you on to discuss the car. Thanks. G.Weiler (Jacksonville, Fl.)
In addition to all of the work that has been done, we installed a new battery yesterday.
@Carfan1978 you are correct. It has everything you want in a Sedan DeVille and more. Its amazing how the interior has held up, its close to flawless. Not even a crack in the steering wheel, they are very common on the '77 and '78's, but not on this one. It's a special car.
The more I look at these pictures, the more I like this car It has many options you don't necessarily see on a CDV. It must have almost as many features as a comparable Fleetwood. Even power passenger seat which was not always a default. It is stunning to say the least.
@pedigree11 It looks like you did some considerable work in the last few years of ownership on this silver / pewter beauty. Looks like new in virtually every respect. You sure can find the fancy nearly new cars. they must migrate to you.
