The subject of a custom backdate restoration, this 1977 Porsche 911S Targa has been rebuilt with a classic long hood nose section. Finished in Grigio Scuro, borrowed from Ferrari’s paint catalog, this example boasts widened fenders, a reupholstered black leather interior with Recaro seats, a refurbished 3.6-liter 964 engine, a completely rebuilt transmission, an upgraded exhaust system, and much more. Initially delivered to the U.S. and acquired by the seller approximately three years ago, this extensively restored and modified example is now being offered for auction out of Denmark after being driven approximately 100 kilometers since the rebuild.
This Targa was professionally primed and painted in Ferrari's Grigio Scuro color. The car was fitted with a modified front valance, black-finished horn grilles, a black-finished bullet-style mirror mounted to the window, widened front and rear fenders, and custom dual exhaust outlets. Additional appointments include green-tinted windows, a leather-protected fuel filler, RS-style trunk hinges, a Bentley mohair fabric Targa top, fender badges, and gold model lettering. It rides on aftermarket Fuchs-style wheels dressed in Toyo Proxes R888R tires from 2023. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin has been lined with new black leather/leatherette upholstery and fitted with vintage reconditioned Recaro seats and new carpeting below. Additional details include an updated instrument cluster with an electronic mile/km speedometer, a MOMO Prototipo steering wheel, an aftermarket shifter, updated 993 rear seatbelts, and RS-style door-pulls. The seller has also added an aftermarket Bluetooth stereo system connected to four 100-watt waterproof loudspeakers which come finished in the exterior color.
Power comes from an air-cooled 3.6-liter flat-six Porsche 964 engine rated at 247 HP and 228 lb.-ft of torque stock. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a completely rebuilt 5-speed manual transmission. The seller adds that the transmission has been renovated with larger bearings and a stronger side cover to support the 3.6-liter engine, and a new clutch and oil cooler have been installed as well. Additionally, a carbon fiber front strut tower brace has been fitted along with larger front brakes, new rear brakes, and new lines all around. The exhaust system has also been upgraded with 3” stainless steel sport catalytic converters, 993 stainless-steel pipes, and custom outlets. All fluids are said to have been refreshed, and the seller states there are no outstanding maintenance items at this time.
This sale will include a rebuilt title.
