Up for auction is this eye catching 1977 Porsche 911 Targa S presented in the rare combination of Emerald Green Metallic over a tan leather interior. Representing Porsche’s top-level Targa model, this well-documented 1977 example features an enlarged 3.2 L flat-six engine which provides for a healthy increase in horsepower. Having been under the diligent care of its second owner since 1980, this Targa remains in excellent driving condition and is now being offered for auction showing approximately 189k miles on the odometer.
This Targa S is finished in its rare factory color of Emerald Green Metallic. The exterior is shown to be in great condition with some imperfections (detailed images are available in the photo gallery). A distinctive wraparound Targa bar and rear dome window provide for classic styling that is sought after by many enthusiasts. Widened rear fenders have been implemented to accommodate wider rear tires which are mounted on a set of factory Fuchs wheels. These wheels exhibit some minor patina and are currently dressed in a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.
This Targa’s classic tan leather interior has been recently outfitted with custom Braum racing seats, a MOMO Sport steering wheel and an upgraded head unit with a corresponding JL stereo system. The interior is stated to be in excellent shape with the only issues being a nonfunctioning air-conditioning system. The seller confirms all other gauges, electrical components and accessories to be in working order.
In 1984, this Targa’s original air-cooled 2.7 L flat-six engine was professionally rebuilt and upgraded up to a 3.2 L (3187cc) displacement using OEM European parts. The resulting increase in power greatly improves this car’s drivability and overall performance. The rear wheels are driven by way of a number’s matching 5-speed 915 manual transmission. The seller indicates that the motor and transmission were rebuilt during the mid 80’s which was done to an extremely high standard. Since then, all scheduled service has been routinely carried out and documented. This Targa S is said to remain in excellent running order, just waiting to begin its journey with a new owner.
The sale of this 911 will include a set of two keys, original books, extensive service records and a clear title. If you have been in search of a vintage air-cooled Targa, this absolutely stunning Emerald Green Metallic example makes the perfect choice.

@GillesB black interior is great but just doesn’t work well for us in the desert - too darn hot but more importantly I think this color combination couldn’t be more striking-Pics/photos don’t convey how captivating the emerald green over tan is-people compliment the car nearly every outing
@911TSG yes if I understand what you’re asking; they used same books for both models...
@gregthon ......I agree with you on that matter. But it looks like no common sense can never ever take place during auctions. Sometimes numbers go high quick to show muscles and cut dreamers‘s hopes. Sometimes owners friends are bidding to help numbers to go up. At the end, whoever offer the best number is the winner. As simple as that.
Nice color for this Targa !! I would bid if interior was back.
Bid in the amount of $25,000
Can you help me out with the 911S vs the presented 911 turbo owners manuals
@Love2bugs Took the pics but pcarmarket staff has to post them-hopefully they'll be up soon-if you want me to text them to you leave a cell # or I can email them
@Tomato I'd like to see it today, if possible. How do I contact you?
I guess my understanding of an auction is a bit confused. Love2bugs bids $12,270 increase with only 1 other bid on this car. Love2bugs also bids $19,850 for the 1985 White Carrera Cabriolet as the first and only bid.
Please take some pics with the top
