Built as a tribute to the legendary Carrera RSR race cars that competed in the IROC series during the mid-1970s, this 911 features a full IROC-style body conversion, upgraded brakes and suspension, a custom interior, and an overhauled 3.0-liter twin-plug engine. Cared for by the current owner since 2014 and previously listed on PCARMARKET, this visceral Carrera RSR tribute is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.

The bodywork has been modified with widened steel fender flares along with IROC-style bumpers and a rear wing. It was finished in the historic Porsche color of Mexico Blue using a four-stage paint process including the door jambs and a black-painted engine bay. The car was fitted with new OEM body seals, stickers, decals, and a new windshield as well as mesh lower body panel inserts and French rally yellow H4 headlamps. It rides on a set of custom RSR-style Braid Fuchs wheels measuring 9” wide in front and 11” wide in the rear, dressed in period-correct Michelin racing tires. The exterior is described to be in excellent condition with some small paint chips, detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin has been redone and fitted with a pair of corduroy-trimmed sport bucket seats as well as a three-spoke MOMO Prototipo steering wheel, RSR-style door panels, and Schroth safety harnesses. The custom hidden stereo system includes a Sony RSXGS9 Bluetooth head unit paired with Focal 3-way speakers and a RetroSound amplifier/subwoofer. The tachometer has been rebuilt by Palo Alto Speedometer with a custom yellow dial to match the door pulls. Other accessories include custom Porsche-branded floormats with yellow accents, stainless-steel “IROC RSR” door sills, and an aftermarket shifter.

Power comes from a 911SC-derived 3.0-liter flat-six engine rebuilt with all new components as well as upgraded MSD twin-plug ignition, PMO carburetors, and an S-Car-Go/SSI custom exhaust system. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 915 5-speed manual transmission. A full Bilstein suspension kit was installed along with front and rear sway bars, and stopping power comes from upgraded 911 brakes with all new lines, hardware, an upgraded master cylinder, and drilled/slotted rotors. The seller states a compression test was recently passed with satisfactory results and has provided a collection of build/service invoices for reference. The most recent invoice shows an oil change completed in May 2022 along with the installation of new spark plugs, a new fuel filter, an upgraded alternator, and an upgraded A/C condenser.

This sale will include a clean title and some documentation.

Stating the obvious here but the clock resets with each bid. Waiting until the last second to bid is only dragging out the end time of the auction unless you need the 2 minutes to truly decide

@550bryan - out of state registration :) install a complete stock 2.7 for the smog troglodytes every two years, OR spend more money on a later motronic motor with smog components and have it CARB / BAR certified.

  • Ssort (registered bidder) 1 year, 7 monthsago

As this was listed previously and then in Dealtank for a while is it a fair request of the seller to get ‘some’ idea of what price he/she is looking for? It would save interested buyers like me time and energy. I totally understand if it’s not realistic ask. Thanks!

  • PorscheWoodlandHills (seller) 1 year, 7 monthsago

Hi 550 Bryan - Correct, it cannot be smogged in CA.

  • 550bryan (registered bidder) 1 year, 7 monthsago

Really nice 911. I assume this car cannot be smogged in Calif given it's modifications and lack of a catalytic converter?

  • PorscheWoodlandHills (seller) 1 year, 7 monthsago

    Correct, $95K. Thank you Jotte.

  • Jotte (registered bidder) 1 year, 7 monthsago

    @robertschachtesq $95k

  • robertschachtesq (registered bidder) 1 year, 7 monthsago

What price did it reach the last time it was presented on PCarmarket?

  • PorscheWoodlandHills (seller) 1 year, 7 monthsago

Hi everybody! The owner of the car has decided to try PcarMarket again. We're assisting him and looking forward to finding a new home for this one of a kind IROC tribute 911.
