Based on a 1977 Carrera 3.0 Coupe, this custom Porsche 911 was created by CC Speedline of California for the company’s owner. It features IROC-style bumpers and comes finished in Montana Blue over a custom tan Alcantara interior with full driver amenities. Power is derived from a 3.5-liter William Knight designed engine with JSR fuel-injected throttle bodies and a custom GT3 exhaust system. Other features include upgraded Cayman brakes, a rebuilt 915 gearbox and limited-slip differential, full coilover suspension, sway bars, and custom three-piece wheels. Driven just over 300 miles since completion, this one-of-a-kind Carrera restomod is now being offered for auction out of Canada.

This 911 was stripped to bare metal, placed on a rotisserie, and refinished in the custom shade of Montana Blue. The bodywork has been customized with IROC front and rear bumper covers as well as a ducktail rear spoiler. Details include contrasting Porsche stripe graphics, gold accents, exposed oil cooler lines, chrome bullet mirrors, custom “CC Speedline” badging, and a 997 GT3 center-exit muffler. The car rides on a set of AWC three-piece Campy wheels finished in gold with a set of Kumho Ecsta V730 tires.

The cabin has been completely redone and lined with black square weave carpeting with tan Alcantara upholstery covering the custom GTS Classics seats, door panels, and roll cage. The dashboard features a matching tan Alcantara trimline with “CC Speedline” lettering as well as a modern Porsche Classic radio. Other accessories include Rennline pedals and floorboards, a quick-release three-spoke steering wheel, and Schroth safety harnesses. An air/fuel meter has been added to the custom blue-faced tachometer and the driver is provided with power windows as well as heating and a full electronic A/C system.

Lined in quilted leather with contrasting blue stitching, the engine compartment houses a stroked 3.5-liter flat-six engine designed by William Knight and tuned by Ed Pink Racing Engines. The powerplant is based upon a 3.0-liter 911SC case and features twin-plug 3.2-liter heads, JSR fuel-injected throttle bodies, and equal-length headers paired with a custom GT3 valved exhaust. A claimed output of 350 HP is sent to the rear wheels by way of a rebuilt 5-speed 915 manual gearbox and a limited-slip differential. A full coilover suspension has been installed along with sway bars and a 987 Cayman brake kit.

    @Jbarnes I simply wanted to point out the reality of the dyno numbers since there have been some pretty heady claims made without any backing other than "it should make XXXHp". Mustang Dynos can be a little heartbreaking, and so can having unrealistic expectations. 100Hp/Liter for a street car that hasn't had major headwork is unlikely. It also would be less than fun to drive on the street.

    I'm sure this car is a blast to drive and the new owner will be very happy.

    Mustang dynos are notiously wonky based on correction factors that each dyno technician can manipulate. I can tell you that from a seat of the pants Dyno perspective this car is more Hp than you see on that monitor. I have driven a lot of 911s and this car absolutely rips. The power throughout the rpm range is outstanding. Not to mention this thing is a work of art but hey I'm biased :)

    The color hits it out of the park, the build quality is second to none, the performance is excellent, the materials used are top shelf.

    This is one of those scenarios where the final product most definitely looks better in real life than photos.

    I too have been spoiled by Gamroth builds. He seems to squeeze the most juice out every build. He has touched every early car I have. Or have ever had.

    @IQ911 Seems at 267 crank hp this motor is down on power? A proper 3.5 should make at least 300 correct? It’s so hard to buy a car like this without driving it and having full access to the shop that built it. Maybe Gamroth could retune and get more HP. Love the build but have been spoiled by Gamroth’s motors and his passion on many projects over the years.

    @jbarnes you asked for some interpretation of the dyno numbers. There's a lot of numbers being thrown around here like "300Hp" and "100Hp/liter" and the owner is on record on instagram claiming 350Hp+ (but perhaps an impartial analysis of the dyno chart is in order.

    The graph at the top of the dyno screen shows wheel Hp and at no point does it exceed 250Hp.

    The results at the bottom of the screen show 267Hp AT THE CRANK.

    I will add my 2 cents for those commenting on engine build. Gamroth has built me several 3.5L engines with itbs. This is in my opinion far better than a 3.6 to 3.8 unless you spend the big money to do also do custom EFI setup with that engine but it’s still far heavier blocked 3.0. 3.5 is best balance of weight vs power. Now with relation to power output, these 3.5l /ITB builds typically make between 310-325 hp unless you really spend money on improving airflow in heads and the 350hp comes very high into rpm band. It’s unlikely this engine even after being tuned ever made 350 and quite truthfully it doesn’t need to. The thing sounds insane (ITBs will make you cream your Porsche jeans), makes great progressive power up rpm band, and is absolute best engine for these early chassis 911s. I might add it’s a must do to have gear box built with short ratio gears to take full advantage .

    The new owner of this beauty will have a special car indeed. Many of us aspire to have something with the go and attitude that this car has.
    I would love to connect with the new owner and learn more about their driving impressions of this car. I know the thought and modifications that went into this drivetrain is something that is hard to duplicate. Not many can have a 300+HP normally aspirated engine with smooth drivability that this one has. This engine is special and worth a ton of money in any car, but especially this one. Lets hope it comes back to california!

    @Addicted2cars another video will be uploaded this evening showing the operation of everything from light to windows to radio. Wipers are not in the video but confirmed work.

    I just did another walk around the car. It shows as new. The occasional hairline scratch on the chrome here and there. Otherwise perfect.

    I would suggest doing a full PPF to this car to try and keep it this way.

    I will let J speak on the paint condition, the car functions and address your question as to any blemishes, but I can tell you the reason I only drove the car 3 times was to make sure it was absolutely perfect when I dropped it off at PFAFF.

    We will most certainly pass along the 800+ pictures and all documentation that had been collected over the 2 year build to the new owner.

    @Sheck44 Good afternoon. Since you are the one who commissioned the build (well done by the way!) will you be passing along the restoration receipts to the new owner?
    - I am not seeing any videos or pics of the car with the lights on, etc. Can you please confirm, that all lights (in and out), signals, wipers, gauges, windows, radio, heat/ac/defrost, etc are all in working order.

    In the video you mention the paint is in great shape. Can you send close up pics of any paint issues, blemishes, spiderwebbing (if any), dings, scratches, etc. I asked this question on a recent purchase and the seller claimed "zero blemishes" and once the car arrived it was anything but blemish free. I would prefer to come look at the car in person but that is not going to happen at this point. Thanks for your time!

    @Jbarnes ... yes you are absolutely correct, except it was a 2 year build. I am going to perfectly transparent, I have been building custom cars as a hobby for 20 years now, and if you find me on Instagram you can see some of the projects that I was hands on, and some I commissioned like the 911. Quite simply I truly love the build process more than the ownership, and working with Nathan was one of the best, most rewarding experiences I've had to date ...     @spartansix I believe they wanted the base of the engine to be period correct. Hence not starting with a 3.6 litre to get to the displacement you mentioned below. That said I have attached the dyno result and you can see a flat torque line that starts very early. I believe the result of the stroke and cam math which makes this thing feel so very strong. Again, as we know, so many parameters when doing dyno pulls can influence a number. My feels are my feels.

    What's the hard rev limit for this car, and where does it make peak power? How's the torque down low?

    Mostly, I'm concerned this 3.5 might a bit anemic in the mid-range when compared to the 3.8/3.9/4.0 motors typically used in similar all-out builds: great at 10/10ths on the track, but lacking a bit of oomph when driving around town or cruising the backroads.

    I know there's not a lot of time left, but an actual dyno chart would be super helpful! Like others, I'm pretty surprised that there are no records at all from the tuning process. If the claimed 270 is correct, then ~300hp crank out of a 3.5 isn't anything to sneer at... but those (very pretty) ITB trumpets often result in peaky power.

    Good morning all, this is Steve the owner of this incredible car.

    @Jbarnes, and perspective buyers, the goal from the beginning in building this 3.5 was to hit 100Hp per litre which by all accounts was the number mentioned by everyone involved. The car was tuned by the Tech from Ed Pinks shop on a Dynojet next door to CC Speedline over a 2 day period. The video I do have during the tuning shows a pull @ 270hp. I believe the video was from day one and that they may have squeezed a little more out of it on day 2.

    None the less, as J has clearly stated, none of these numbers truly matter, because this car is extremely well sorted and ridiculously fast.

    @Jbarnes thanks for the note. Unfortunately the seller did not receive any complete dyno results. A baseline run was performed showing 270 WHP at 7000rpm and 255 ft-lbs of torque.

    Based on your typical power loss the engine if showing more like 300 crank HP.

    That said, the architecture of this engine typically produces 350hp. I can’t confirm the proper gear was used, dyno calibration, sea level etc etc or how hot/humid it was.

    What I can tell you is with my 30 years of Porsche experience in both the tuner world and stock configuration. The engine in this car is very strong. Regardless of the “number” I guarantee the winner of this auction will say this think f@#king pulls.

    Hard to sell a car of this caliber without dyno info. Seller at least give us an explanation. We all know it was on the dyno.

    Undoubtedly, this car looks great but what perplexes me are the numbers on the engine.
    One of the comments here claims that “it pulls harder than a ‘singer’ 3.8” but the description only states a “claimed” number for the HP.
    There is a video showing the car on the dyno but no hard numbers.
    Why not share the real numbers?
    Either way it’s a gorgeous build, just wondering if the performance of it matches.

    Steering rack was 100% fully rebuilt, most only replace the two ball bearings, we make all the other pieces (slider puck + side bearing, seals) that aren’t available to buy anywhere (mostly because each “bearing” has to be machined uniquely for the rack to be truly rebuilt) We use vintage rare factory tool fixtures to properly complete the process. We helped with many small/NLA components as the car was being assembled vs going with generic looking clamps and hardware ect true Porsche needs will spot this and appreciate it. Interestingly enough C&C is where actual Singers went in for paint/body repair so there is that connection in quality of labor Nathan takes his labor to another level and is not for everyone’s budget but also why the cars are so nice. I personally did not like the bootleg low quality mirrors and would have chosen another option but that was the owners choice not ours as were the wheels and back date dash trim. Another thing to that is not seen is the custom aluminum made bumper reinforcements those are a work of art !
    Gauges have the 67 style white Cream color vs the bright white later type, a small detail that can be easily lost. Interior was done by the same internal guys who do Singer interiors but now no longer take side jobs (sorry can’t name names) Duck tail is a metal Base (huge difference to an all fiberglass) that came from Florida but Nathan @ C&C had to spend as much money as it cost in hours to Rework the tail to fit/look right. Quarter glass has the original 76 Weltmeister champion decal still present! Clear non tint Factory glass was not a easy task to get and will be appreciated. The electric AC system 100% did not work as is out of the box and was a issue at the time, Nathan’s team made that thing work after so many others gave up on their own kits. Front slam panel was done with the RSR metal ducting (many hours) so the air has somewhere to go. A car like this could not be replicated easily and would cost nearly as much as what a base Singer use to cost. Let’s hope this car gets what it deserves: a owner who will truly appreciate it for all its tiny attention to details and put as many miles on it as humanly possible, this car was meant to be taken to the limit and back while looking the part.     I’ll start by saying the photos and description don’t do full justice to this build.

    My name is Efren I helped with this build
    I’m owner and operator of Aircooled Exclusive (SoCal) a small outfit specializing in used Porsche parts as well as restoration of sub components and light manufacturing of factory look performance parts as well as being one of the 5 original workers of Singer vehicle design (I left in 2014 to start ACE). It’s funny how the Singer name gets tossed into every ad these days, it’s not a Singer and shouldn’t be compared to a Singer as it stands on its own and I personally feel it cheapens the car when it’s mentioned (even though a few Singer people came around to help). My team and I went in and took apart the suspension in preparation for the official Celette table work, we refinished what we could, as many components had to be replaced for various reasons and we included a few extra upgrades for the build like a “through the body” swaybar, 935 style spring plates (we now make our own) as well as other components mentioned later. We made a full video of the process. After it came off the Celette frame and the body was absolutely straight (so many builds don’t use a celette as a starting basis and should be taken into account as that is not a cheap “just incase” thing to do)
    We then provided our factory style RSR chassis reinforcement kit as every kit on the market was unsatisfactory (cheaply made with non factory design) to what Porsche originally did. We also made a second full video (2 minute + 30 minute tutorial video) of the 18 piece (optional 22) reinforcement kit being added to this car, it’s a very fun video. The kit was added due to the fact that the car was going coil over and is absolutely needed to prevent fatigue of the chassis suspension points many people who build car neglect these pieces (or only add the decorations pieces that don’t actually enforce the car) but in all honesty this car is reinforced to go rally racing (dirt/tarmac) very easily. The internal project name was “The red car now blue” (I mention it here because it was at this point when the car became blue) we also provided our own brake caliper kit, different in design to others, as our kit allows to add brake dust shields (a very important often forgotten detail) as well as a different angle at the rear to allow more pad use, lightweight/unsprung/rotational mass was priority and why the caliper kit was used . Carrera rotors used all the way around unlike the SC rears most use we had a lighter option but would have been over budget. Brake booster (first year) 23mm master + brand New fresh (not used refinished) from dealer Boxster non S calipers used (best weight/brake bias ratio for G-body cars)
    The Decklid pin made of Aluminum and anodized was also our design as the original was far gone. Used parts like the NLA brake booster replacement as well as many other small components were done by us. Comment 1 of 2

    @Porsche416 I think it’s best to treat this similar to a Singer Build. The seller of the car bought this direct from CC Speedline as you see it. All he was able to chose was colours, Hyde’s and wheels.

    The small correction, the interior on the car is all actual Hyde, from the dash inserts to the completely custom finished roll cage. Pics attached

    A little history:

    Starting life as an original slick top 77 Carrera 3.0 this 911 started its journey about 3 years ago. Owner of Bodyshop C&C Autobody in California decided to embark on a full build. Knowing a thing or 2 about the process as this Bodyshop did paint a handful of Singers during production they put their skills to the rest. The allocation was sold to a Canadian before colours and trim were selected and he did a fine job with Montana Blue finish for the exterior and savanah beige alcantera triming the interior.

    Full Iroc bodywork adorns the exterior paired by custom AWC 3 piece campy wheels and all new lighting. What a stance.

    The suspension is upgraded with full coilovers all around with full adjustable sway bars and all new bushings and ties. Everything is brand new!

    Brakes are 4 piston moniblock calipers from a 987. They deliver impeccable bite and strong power all the way to the stop!

    Lastly and most importantly is this William Knight designed 3.5L engine. Dual plug, JSR EFI with ITB’s and final tune performed by Ed Pink.

    Basically the best of the best we’re commissioned for this build!

    All the above produces one of the best air cooled 911 experiences I have ever had. The 3.5L engine produces great low end grunt and produces great horsepower once up in the cam. It sings! Even second gear fights the tires. Press the valve button and open up the GT3 titanium exhaust (video coming). Sounds incredible!!

    The beautifully prepared 915 gearbox with limited slip and short shifting mechanical shifter is direct and crisp! Drive it with all the spirit you want. It will accept.

    And finally when you’re gonna hit the backroads and tone it down you can enjoy fully electric AC and some tunes out of the Porsche classic set up. Absolutely whatever you want to do. This car will do it.

    An exceptional build which just finished this past August and has covered just 300 miles since!

    You can buy a Singer, or save yourself a mill and be 90% there.
