Finished in Sahara Beige over a Cork interior, this 1977 Porsche 911S marks the final year of the 2.7-liter engine and came factory-equipped with an optional power sunroof. It has been under the care of the same owner for the last 45 years and received an engine overhaul before being placed in storage about 8 years ago. The car has since been recommissioned and treated to over $6k worth of service as well as a complete repaint in its original color. Showing just over 132k miles on the odometer, this 911S is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.
This Coupe came factory-finished in Sahara Beige, a classic nonmetallic shade offered during the mid to late 1970s. The car was completely refinished in its original color earlier in 2022 and comes equipped with a driver’s side mirror, U.S. spec bumperettes, chrome window trim, aluminum rocker moldings, an electric sunroof, and factory 15” Fuchs wheels. A new set of BF Goodrich tires were mounted earlier in 2022 with less than 1k miles driven since. Additional images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin is trimmed in Cork upholstery with matching carpets and a light beige headliner. Equipment includes a black leather three-spoke steering wheel, a locking glovebox, PORSCHE logo floor mats, air conditioning, power windows, and an aftermarket shifter. The sound system features upgraded speakers, a trunk-mounted amplifier, and a Sony Bluetooth head unit. The seats have been re-covered in tan leather and general signs of wear are noted throughout the cabin including a small crack in the air vent bracket as depicted in the gallery.
The air-cooled 2.7-liter flat-six engine is rated at 165 HP and sends power to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transmission. The engine was reportedly overhauled by Stahl Motor Work of Palm Beach, Florida, about 15 years ago with approximately 15k miles driven since. The seller also notes over $6k was invested in a recent service including new brakes and tires.
This sale will include a clean title and the original owner’s manuals.

@wadds1971 @wadds197 again that's why I gave you the shop that did all the work on that car for the last 25 years and you have to remember I was a buyer also and I took it to the shop that had the history on the car they went through it for me gave me a thumbs up and I've been driving it for about 6 months that was good enough for me however I can understand that might not be good enough for the next guy but there's a lot of information on that car that can be had by making a couple calls
@Dreammachines1 - Thanks for clarifying what you know about the car. Trying to chase down the history of any 45-year-old sports car can be an exercise in automotive forensics, but I do put a lot of value on documentation of prior work. I had assumed that the long-term owner would likely have saved most, if not all, of the significant paperwork that would help us learn more about this car, but it sounds as though very little, if any, of that will come with the car.
This car does look very nice indeed, but it will be impossible for me to have it checked out by an impartial Porsche tech, much less see it in person, before the end of your auction. My decision, and I suspect that of most bidders, will have to be based on whatever information you can provide via PCarMarket.
I owned a couple of older 911's many years ago ('70 911T and '76 911S), so I am aware of their potential for enjoyment, but also their service needs over time. It would be nice to bid with confidence, with eyes wide open. Well, let's see what happens in the next few days.
@wadds1971 being I wasn't the one doing the repairs I didn't get those receipts that's why I supplied the name of the shop that did them anyone's free to call them as to the work I had done I have those receipts and I'll forward them to any interested party
@Dreammachines1 - Thanks for responding. Sorry if I confused that date of the engine "overhaul" in my question to you. When the writeup said the engine overhaul was done before the car was placed in storage 8 years ago, I mistakenly assumed those two events were close in time. But, the description did say the engine was "reportedly" overhauled "about 15 years ago". Of course, an overhaul can mean just about anything, and without documentation to support it, that remains a big question mark. Were Carrera chain tensioners added? Updated head studs installed? Pop-off valve installed? Ditto for the $6K spent on recent service items. A receipt for the repaint would also give bidders some idea of the thoroughness of that work, too, e.g. was it "windows out, doors and lids off"?
As to the assumption I made about this car still being in the hands of the original owner, I came to that conclusion because (1) the car is 45 years old, and (2) the second sentence in the PCar writeup said: "It has been under the care of the same owner for the last 45 years..." Simple math.
As to encouraging bidders to call the service center doing the mechanical repairs? That seems a bit of a stretch for work done 15 years ago. I think almost all questions could be answered simply by posting the invoice itself. I hope you will reconsider.
Bid in the amount of $5,000
@Dreammachines1 Also in your statement you stated the car had been apparently owned by the same person for its entire life----thats not true---it was purchased from the original owner over 40 years ago by the last owner and the major service he did was 15 years ago not 8--I did a complete service by the same shop Stahl Motor Sports who has specialized in Porsches for over 40 years---if you are seriously interested I purposely listed the name of the company so you could talk to them about the work performed---I also have a detailed copy of the service---I was very happy with their and recommend them to all my customers
@wadds1971 I have the last service record by the same Shop did did the major service years back--it is a detail list of all work performed it totaled over 6000 --and that will be passed on to new owner--I have been driving the car for the past several months with no issues
Since this car has apparently been owned by the same person for its entire life, I would hope that detailed service records would be available, especially those describing the complete engine overhaul from 8 years ago, as well as the recent $6K service that was performed. Might we have a look at those records, and will the complete service history records be passed on to the new owner? There would be tremendous value here for the next caretaker of this fine Porsche.
