The Carrera 3.0 Targa is one of the rarest production cars produced by Porsche in 1977. Only 365 cars were produced, none of which were offered for sale in the US. Unlike the standard 1977 Targa, Porsche built the 3.0 Carrera with flared rear fenders to accommodate the larger 15x7 Fuch style wheels. The result, a much sportier and aggressive looking sports car.
This Carrera is finished in the iconic color of Oak Green, a personal favorite of Ferdinand Porsche and one of today’s most beloved Paint to Sample (PTS) colors. What makes this car even more interesting and rare is the spectacular special order green interior. The 3.0 Carrera is not only a fun sports car but also a great investment that would be found in many special collections.
This Euro Carrera is showing 76,452 miles on the odometer. The exterior is stated to be in driver-grade condition with the appropriate signs of wear. Gallery photos show the current imperfections in the paint. The seller states that the car is very well preserved, with straight body panels, no signs of rust or evidence of any previous body damage.
The interior is said to be in above average condition aside from a cut in the seam of the driver’s seat and minor warping on the door panels. The power seats and rear window wiper, work as they should.
The all original, numbers matching engine is reportedly in good running condition. The power band is said to be very linear and pulls through the 5-speed 915 gearbox with ease. A few recent service items include: a new fuel tank system, a replaced fan and newly installed plugs/ignition wires. The seller notes that the tires will need to be replaced.
The Carrera 3.0 was built between 1976-1977 for the European Market only. The standard 911 of the same year had a 2.7L engine. The 930 Turbo, which was produced during the same time period, used the same motor.
The sale will include records and keys.

Those 3.0 Carrera are a very interesting breed. The motor is the aluminium 930 turbo block minus the turbo. They are 10hp short of the legendary 2.7 RS but they were faster than the 2.7 RS because of the power band at lower RPM (according to reviews from the period)
@Mills911C3 cars been on the market all over the internet including Craig's List in dozens of cities for many many months for a lot less than 100k.
Bid in the amount of $7,750
@Mills911C3 it is a really rare piece !
@guy4romPHILLY The car at some point had a respray with clear in its original color
I’ll kick things off. Never was a fan of Targas but they have grown tremendously on me. Oak green is a cool color for sure. If there is anything else that the seller feels they should disclose here, it would be greatly appreciated. Is this the original paint or has it been resprayted and if so, single stage or clear?
Bid in the amount of $7,500
My hope this draws $100,000.00 here in the US. Unfortunetly many have recently been bought then exported to Europe+/-
