Offered for auction is this air-cooled classic 1977 Porsche 911 S. Driven only 49,522 miles, this 911 is a fully intact and structurally sound example. This car was sold new at Westwood Porsche-Audi in California where it was regularly serviced through 35,000 miles. The seller purchased the car from Fantasy Junction in California at which point it was transported to Tucson, AZ where it has been pampered for the past 6 years.
The silver paint is stated to be in exceptional condition. The seller states that this 911 was the beneficiary of a complete windows out repaint. Only a few very minor scratches are noted. This 911 retains all of its original glass and rubber trim which are stated to be in excellent condition. This car was very well optioned from the factory including fog lights, rear windscreen wiper, and sunroof. The car is currently equipped with a set of 15” Fuch wheels with brand new Continental tires (205 Rear / 195 Front).
The all original black leather interior is in above average condition. The highly desirable factory sport seats have been redone in the original factory leather finish approximately two years ago. The seller notes that the original dashboard is in like new condition. Aside from the factory air conditioning, all instruments and electronics are in working order including the upgraded head unit.
Powering this 911 S is the original, numbers matching 2.7L flat-six engine that is controlled by a 915 5-speed manual transmission. The engine compartment shows all original and features smog equipment. The engine starts perfectly and is extremely responsive. The chassis and suspension are stated to be tight, providing an excellent driving experience. A few key performance upgrades and service notes include:
- 930 type tierod installed
- Koni suspension
- Bilstein shocks in rear
- Backdated 1974 style exhaust

Is the engine compartment dented in a couple of areas around the lower edge or is it shadows in the pictures?

@GillesB r12 is available and its legal. It costs more, but it works better and lasts longer.
@DaBigKahuna1969 Classic Porsche and AC system use R12 Freon that is no longer allowed. You ll have to either find Freon to buy on internet or just replaced the system for a newer version. As far as I know it might cost up to a good $1200 with installation.
I just don’t use the AC on my 1987 911.....
@DaBigKahuna1969 I don’t think it would take more than a day probably $500-$1000. I do not remember if it uses R12 or 134A refrigerant big difference in price.

@steelblnker yes I don’t think people get it anymore. The new cars are so fast in 1st gear. Then they do all the braking traction suspension and everything else. They just are not fun to drive that low speed. (Under 100) you can use three gears to get to 60 miles an hour. You can drive them and make the tires squeal around mountain corners.
@Oszkarbacsi yes the chain tensioners have been recently rebuilt and tensioner safeties (guards) are installed
@Oszkarbacsi I always wonder what it means when they say a nice driver. Yes I believe there are some smog headers some where. I believe we have a couple sets hanging around in the exhaust section at the shop And yes it was a five bladed fan originally problem is at low speeds they do not pull enough air for the desert climate

Looks like a nice driver. To be noted there's no smog equipment on this car, however description states it's equipped with. Perhaps comes with the car. Also that's an updated fan, the original one had 5 blades. Are the chain tensioners updated to hydraulic ones?
IMO the G body 911 is one of the most fun 911s to drive. They are nimble and so easy to feel comfortable in from a driving position pov. really something special about them. GLWA!

@sycleboy Quick and easy way to ascertain mileage. Checking the rubber pads on the pedals is the best way to tell mileage. The other one is to look at the rubber on the rear torsion bar spring plates.
@Chuckanatr I have a few of these 70'S SC'S,One sunroof delete 57k miler, can usually tell by condition of pedals as well.
@sycleboy some people just have sweaty hands would be my guess. Seriously the car speaks for itself to be the original mileage

Very nice car. I spoke to the mechanic (Chuck) about a week ago. He's knowledgeable and had good things to say about the car. It will be interesting to see this action proceed. I'll be watching...
