Offered exclusively in the United States for one year only and with less than 2,100 examples produced in total, the Porsche 912E was created to replace the outgoing 914 as Porsche’s entry-level sports car. It shared its chassis with the premium 911 model and was powered by a 2.0-liter flat-four engine with Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection. This example comes finished in Grand Prix White and features a rare sunroof option as well as Fuchs alloy wheels and a 5-speed manual transaxle. The car is said to have been originally sold in California and was under the long-term ownership of a fastidious Porsche collector. Having been refurbished and well-maintained including an overhaul of the original engine, this 912E is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Washington while showing approximately 128k miles on the odometer.
This 912E is finished in Grand Prix White with polished mirrors, door handles, headlight rings, and window moldings. Other equipment includes a fender-mounted antenna, a center tail panel reflector with “PORSCHE” lettering, an optional electric sunroof, and upgraded 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels. The original 14” Fuchs wheels are also said to accompany the sale. The seller indicates the car received a high-quality glass-out respray in its original color some time ago and the finish remains in excellent overall condition. A few minor cosmetic imperfections are noted and the seller adds that the glass and trim remain in excellent condition.
The black leatherette interior features professionally reupholstered seats, an aftermarket stereo, an upgraded three-spoke sports steering wheel, and an aftermarket black leather gear knob. The original steering wheel and gear knob are said to accompany the sale. The seller notes the original dashboard is free of cracks, the door pockets are in excellent condition, and the original sun visors and carpeting remain in place. All gauges and accessories are said to be working properly
An air-cooled and fuel-injected 2.0-liter flat-four engine delivers up to 86 HP and 98 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transaxle. The seller states that the engine and gearbox are original to the car and the engine was completely overhauled at 122k miles. Other recent service includes new shock absorbers, a new ignition coil and condenser, and a fuel filter. The seller adds that the suspension has been lowered to European-spec ride height and extensive service records are included.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, service records, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Porsche's 912E is one of the rarest models ever produced by Porsche and is coveted by collectors. The car was a one-year car for US production only. Depending on who one talks to, total production numbers were somewhere below 2,100 units and less than 1,000 with the sunroof option. This car was under the long-time ownership of a fastidious Porsche collector. It recently traded hands with a good friend of his and a retired engineer who has recently gone through the car again… engineers, gotta love the way they take care of things! This 912E starts, runs, shifts, and stops perfectly. There are no leaks. Fly in, drive home, anywhere.... thanks for looking. Feel free to ask any questions...”

@TBKTX yes, clean and clear title in hand. Glad you're ok with Spokane :)
I do, a very well known inland northwest Porsche tech with a sound reputation. Worked on Porsche's in Southern Ca for years before moving up here years ago. Engine starts, runs, idles perfectly. No leaks.
They are closing the plane doors... sorry folks, all I can do.. best of luck.
Do you know who overhauled the engine ?
Seller: confirming you have a clean title which will be signed over to buyer. Spokane is fine with me.
@dhuckabay the bid was retracted. Please refresh.

It might be worth $265,000 ! Who knows. Not many of them slow things around. Beautiful classic though. Will be interesting to see where this goes.
Wrong bid was to be 26500
@porscheklaus I was just curious why listing in Wa and not ID, nothing else.
@Sanbar0401 just my opinion but, I think the man is having BaT withdrawals and ought to consider finding his way back.... just an observation on my part. 🙂 wow, that was really nice.... so about this really, really nice 912E...getting ready to board, have fun y'all . Play nice :)

@bcgreen what are you getting at ??
@bcgreen My dealership is located in Spokane. Is this going to cloud your desision making or would you like to know something more about the car sir?
I'm in CDA. The car is for sale in Spokane, why not say the vehicle is located in ID. Just trying to understand as I recently sold a Carrera and my ad location said ID.
@bcgreen Spokane is 30 miles from Idaho. :)
Curious, I was wondering why the Idaho plates.
Have a safe flight Porscheklaus
A quick note please. I need to travel tomorrow early and will be in the air when this auction ends. Should anyone have any questions, please fire away. By the way, I normally detail every car I offer for sale prior to taking photographs. I washed this one...gotta leave something for you to do 😁

@jackal0506 good morning Jack, the gearbox shifts perfectly both up and down though all gears, in fact,
2 -1 downshift can even be accomplished without fanfare. The owner just replaced the linkage coupler giving the lever a more positive feel as well.
QUICK QUESTION, how's the synchs from first to second?
Bid in the amount of $15,000
Here is a thought.... this auction will a few days before rennsport :) nudge- nudge 😀
A couple of different and beautiful routes to take.

I've added a few chassis shots, I don't have a lift so pulling the wheels was the best bet. The car still has the factory cosmoline in the inner fender linings. There is absolutely zero rust anywhere on the car and no oil leaks...thanks

@porscheklaus *coveting
@porscheklaus NP. I was covering the non power windows….they don’t make ‘em like they used to LOL. But seriously, I’m reaching out from Vancouver Canada. 100% confidence in this car to make it from there to here without issues?
@DOGGERJK Yeah, it snuck itself in there.... sorry about that... good catch though :)
@porscheklaus Presumably Pic 61 is a diff car?
@mmaturo working on that today. I don't have a lift so I'll be trying to get you good shots. Stay tuned.
Great looking and certainly rare. I think I will not be the only one thinking it but need more pictures underneath and around the battery.
Bid in the amount of $10,000
Good morning all, thanks for taking a look at this 912E, truly a lovely car. First, sorry that some of the photos are a bit dull, the light kept changing on me.... well, that's my excuse :)
In addition to the original 14" Fuch's, tool roll, books and records which come with the sale of the car, there are also a number of "NEW" replacement parts as well. There are a fresh set of brake rotors, front and rear brake pads, brake lines, suspension bushings and a few other odds and ends which will come with the purchase. These items are NOT in need of current replacement but, the current owner being a retired Boeing engineer likes keeping maintenance items on hand.
I do believe this is one if the very best 912E's out there, the car is in truly nice condition and can be driven with confidence anywhere, right now. Best of luck !
