This 1976 Porsche 911S Targa has spent its life on the West Coast and was purchased by the seller from its previous owner several years ago who performed a restoration. It was refinished and modified with dual carburetors, a Petronix/MSD electronic ignition, an upgraded oil cooler, Carrera chain tensioners, SSI heat exchangers, an adjustable rear torsion bar, new Koni shocks, a MOMO steering wheel, RS-style door panels, and more. This classic air-cooled Targa is now being offered for auction out of Oregon.
This 911S has been refinished in a dark grey metallic color and features a refurbished black vinyl roof panel, a brushed stainless-steel Targa bar, yellow-tinted fog lamps, H4 headlights, gold exterior badging, and black-painted 15” Fuchs alloy wheels. The seller indicates new Longstone vintage Michelin-style tires were installed within the last 1k miles. The body, paintwork, glass, and lenses are described to be in good condition. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The black interior has been restored with reupholstered black leather seats, grey square weave carpeting, and black RS-style door panels with red cloth pull straps. Other accessories include a three-spoke MOMO Prototipo steering wheel, aftermarket speakers and stereo, and stainless-steel pedals and kick plates. The front trunk has also been modified with a stainless-steel bulkhead and fuse panel cover and brass-colored trim hinges and accent plates. The clock works intermittently, although all other gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional.
The air-cooled 2.7-liter flat-six engine has been modified with dual carburetors, a Petronix/MSD electronic ignition, oil-fed Carrera chain tensioners, an upgraded oil cooler, and SSI heat exchangers. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle. The seller indicates the original emissions equipment has been removed and the lowered suspension features new Koni shocks and an adjustable Sway-A-Way rear torsion bar. An oil service and leak-down test were recently performed, and the head studs were checked in 2020. The seller adds that minor oil drips accumulated while the car was in winter storage.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: "Thanks for checking out the auction. This is a great 911S with an impressive restoration with great attention to detail. It has a unique look but is not excessively modded. The car runs well and drives lovely with the lowered but not stiffened suspension. We acquired this car to do TSD classic rallies. It's a great car for events as it is comfortable, and fun and can tick along at modern highway speeds without buzzing your fillings out. Although, we've taken it on a few trips we have not used it in the last 2 years and need to make space. It is currently stored in a climate-controlled hangar at 97754 and is available for viewing."

Hi Rayner80,
I'd expect the engine to be the same power output. Car runs good and is in its sweet-spot cruising at highway speeds, where it is smooth and comfortable. The emissions equipment and fuel injection was removed prior to my ownership. However, it is my understanding from the prior owner that the fuel injection was buggy and the carbs/MSD are much more straight-forward/reliable. Also beneficial for cooling with the fuel injection emissions gear omitted. All the parts for the original fuel/emissions system are included and shown in the pictures. Let me know if there are additional questions.
With the engine mods, would the HP still
Be around 160?
@vvspeedy30 Thanks! @vvspeedy30
beautiful car!
Bid in the amount of $1,000
@Gorpon73 thanks!
@brammo Yes, I'm happy to show the car. Just PM me. It is stored in hanger located at 97754. I'd just need a day or so notice as I'm not always out where the car is. The original FI along with emission control parts are with the car. There is one picture showing what parts I have that are with the car.
Nice car - Able to view it locally by chance? Do you still have the original FI by chance?
