This 1976 Porsche 911S Targa has been extensively customized with a host of RS-style equipment, widebody fenders, and a reupholstered interior. Refinished in grey over black leather, this example is said to have undergone a host of mechanical refreshments including new brake lines, rotors, and calipers, along with a rebuilt pedal assembly and the installation of rebuilt Zenith carburetors. This RS tribute is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida showing approximately 110k miles on the odometer.
As part of the restoration, the body was stripped to bare metal and professionally modified with a long-hood style front end, RS-style bumpers, and all-metal widebody fenders. This example was refinished in its current shade of grey with a reupholstered Targa roof panel and a fixed stainless-steel roll bar. Appointments include a fiberglass front bumper and ducktail rear spoiler along with rear chrome bumperettes, RS-style lettering, Carrera script, yellow-tinted headlights, bullet-style mirrors, and monochromatic Porsche badges. It rides on a set of aftermarket wheels dressed in Nitto tires from 2017. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
Inside, you will find a pair of reupholstered black leather seats along with lightweight RS-style door panels and new carpets. Equipment includes a Momo Prototipo steering wheel, VDO instrumentation, and an Alpine stereo. The seller confirms all gauges, electronics, and accessories are working properly.
An air-cooled 2.7-liter flat-six engine sends 165 HP to the rear wheels by way of a 915 5-speed manual transmission. The seller adds that recent service includes the original fuel injection system being removed, refurbished Zenith carburetors installed, and an MSD ignition module fitted. Additionally, new brake lines, rotors, calipers, and a clutch cable were installed, and the pedal assembly was reportedly rebuilt along with new suspension bushings and driveshafts.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Miami Garage Classics is very happy to present this just finished, new to the market, 1976 Porsche 911 Targa in its unique ‘’RS Tribute’’ style. A highly customized vehicle that was ‘’backdated’’ to resemble the iconic Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 as much as possible. The construction was just finished, the body was taken to bare metal and fully repainted, and all new seals were installed, along with a fully re-upholstered interior and Targa top. According to the previous owner, the engine was rebuilt along with all the head studs, but unfortunately, there are no records to confirm this information.”

I agree with @nobrakes - this is a beautiful car and is what I have been looking for for awhile. Would love to spend my time giving this the mechanical side to match the beauty!

@nandersonmn Hello, there are three knobs in the area above the radio, the first one is for the rear window defroster and it is working. The second one is missing, I believe it is for the fog lights which this car doesn't have, and the third one is the lighter which is there.
I notice a number of the knobs are broken inside - is everything functional?
@nobrakes Good morning, thank you for the compliment, it's a great-looking car indeed.
About the size of the wheels and tires, they are 235/40/17 on the front and 315/35/17 on the rear.

This is a great looking car that deserves the same level of mechanical enhancements to compliment its appearance. And that’s ok if the price is right. I have a question, what are the size of the wheel and tires?
Bid in the amount of $20,000
@JC688 Hello, about the cabin air, the only vents on the dashboard are on the sides and against the windshield, no center vents.
Looking at the car in person the wheels on the arch wheels look perfectly proportioned and centered, it may be the angle of the pictures and/or the height of the car, but I can't notice any misalignment in person.
Unfortunately, there are no Carfax reports available for cars pre-1983, and we don't have a compression test at the moment
Hello, is there cabin air? Looks like the vents were removed.
From the side views, it looks like the front and rear wheels are not centered within the wheel arch, is that right?
Do you have compression test and carfax?
@787LH Hello, the heat exchangers don't have hot air hoses installed at their outputs.
Picture 60 shows some bubbling that formed inside the windshield, there is no damage on the dashboard.
About the oil cooler, there is no oil cooler installed behind the front bumper, nor oil lines running to the front of the car.
@eurocol Hello, yes there is a folder with several service records. They are mainly from 2022 and for parts purchased to complete the build.
About your question for the moldings, I'm not completely sure what do you mean by ''screen locking moldings'' but all the moldings are installed on this car, there is no missing pieces related to the moldings around the car.
@nandersonmn The passenger door closes properly, the gaps looks as they should and no extra force is needed to get it to a proper closing.
@nandersonmn Good morning, according to the information verbally provided by the previous owner, the engine was rebuilt and the head studs were replaced during his ownership of the car, but unfortunately he wasn't able to provide any service record for those works.
It appears the heat exchangers are non functional, or am I missing something? Also, what am I seeing in picture 60? Are those pits in the windshield or damage to the dash cover? Finally, is there an oil cooler behind the front bumper? Thank you for answering.
Bid in the amount of $19,000
Sweet looking car,
any receipt for work done?
It's hard to see but are the front and rear screen locking moldings in place??
Pictures 43 and 107 seem to show they are missing.
thnx
Have the cylinder head studs been replaced from original? Also, I can’t tell in the video - does the passenger door close properly?
Hi there, have the cylinder head studs been repaired or replaced at any point? Also, can’t tell in the video - does the passenger door close properly?
Bid in the amount of $17,000
Very sweet build
I’ve always been a Targa fan and have been longing for an older body RS style build
Kind of wish the motor had a little more horsepower and effort put into it
But most importantly, wondering about California smog emissions
The year of the car 1976, happens to be the cut off year for Smog emissions restrictions in California
Just not sure if it would pass as is or be exempt
Very sharp looking Porsche.
Bid in the amount of $15,000
@Nikojo Hello, the ducktail and front bumper are fiberglass. Other than that is all metal.
Hood is metal, front and rear fenders are all metal.
I just re-checked this with a magnet before sending this answer, just to let you know.
@BoxsterGT Good morning, we don't have a Porsche CoA to verify this with total certainty but the engine number is 6460940 which shows the engine is from1976, so it may be numbers matching.
About the view from the mirrors, both mirrors are small as you can see, but once you adjust them correctly and find the right position, the view is pretty decent (not great, but decent).
Nice build and great one hand driving! I drive like that holding a cup of coffee.
What parts are fiberglass??
Hood?
Fenders front and rear?
So is this the original motor to the vehicle? Numbers Matching??
How is the view out of the side Mirror mounted on the Passenger door?
