Finished in Silver Metallic over a black interior, this 1976 Porsche 911S Targa was acquired by the current owner in 2008 and features an upgraded 3.2L engine sourced from a 1980s 911 Carrera and paired with a 5-speed 915 transmission, as well as RS-style door panels and a vintage Personal steering wheel. The car has also undergone considerable service over the past ten years including an engine and transmission rebuild, new shocks, torsion bars, engine gaskets, and spark plugs as well as a new headliner and upholstery for seats. Previously listed on PCARMARKET, this 911S Targa is now being offered for auction at no reserve by its longtime owner out of New Jersey.
This 911S comes finished in Silver Metallic (936-9-3) and sports a black Targa band, front fog lights, and 16" Fuchs wheels dressed in a set of new Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires. Some minor imperfections are depicted throughout the exterior as well as a faded finish on the wheels. The seller reports the front end and fuel tank were refinished, detailed images and paint meter readings are provided in the gallery.
Inside, you will find a pair of reupholstered black leather seats along with lightweight RS-style door panels and a vintage Emerson Fittipaldi Personal steering wheel. Other additions include Coco floormats, an aluminum accelerator pedal, and an Alpine Bluetooth stereo paired with upgraded Focal speakers. A new headliner was also fitted for the removable Targa top under the current ownership.
This 911S has been equipped with a larger 3.2L flat-six engine sourced from a later 1980s Carrera model, driving the rear wheels through a later-model alloy 5-speed 915 manual gearbox. Both the engine and transmission are said to have been rebuilt by Stuttgart Auto of Los Angeles, in October of 2012. Other maintenance items addressed around this time include new torsion bars, shock absorbers, heater blower motors, a starter, and an alternator belt. More recent maintenance carried out between 2016-2020 included new intake manifold gaskets, valve cover gaskets, an engine drive belt, and gas cap seal. The most recent service completed in December of 2021 included mounting and balancing four new tires, new valve cover gaskets, front struts, spark plugs, an oil change, and a New York state inspection.
This sale will include a spare tire and a clean title.

@spyderfly would depend on your state to say with all certainty but the car has passed safety and emissions without issue in CA, NY, NJ
Does the upgraded engine retain the emissions system? Would it pass smog?
@awil5504 no known accidents, and no engine rust; very very little rust throughout the car
Has the car ever been in any accidents? In the photos of the engine cover it looks like there is a good amount of orange peel or rust bubbling, can you confirm which it is?

@dougherty99 we addressed a couple of minor leaks last year and currently there are no detectible leaks. I uploaded a new video and three photos this morning to show the ground below where the car has been parked the past week or so - no leaks.
Please can you describe where does the carleaks oil and how much/often?

@HerrDok the work was completed. Feel free to contact the shop, ask for Frank, he can confirm, and answer any other questions you may have
Two of the photos show estimates for work from Hampton Sports but no bills that the work was done. Can you clarify?
Took the car out today to shoot a cold start, short drive video and a few stills (just uploaded all). Also had it hand-washed and detailed. Regarding the welds mentioned below, this was part of a repair made to the Targa top, where it fits above the windshield, and not visible.

Hey guys. Regarding the rims, last year we had them removed, stripped, cleaned, some minor scratches buffed out, and repainted. Today I'll take a few pics of repair welds and shoot a fresh driving video, posting later today. Thanks!
