Up for auction is this 1976 Porsche 911S finished in Black over a black leather interior with Sport Seats and blue carpeting. Originally sold as the top-of-the-line 911 model available for the U.S. market, this 911S is said to have been purchased by the seller from its original owner several years ago before undergoing some major restoration in 2019 including an engine-out service. A lifelong West Coast car, this 911S is now being offered by its seller out of Palm Springs, CA. with just under 48k miles showing on the odometer.
The Black paint on this 911S is said to be in near flawless condition with the majority of the car recently taken down to bare metal and professionally refinished during the 5-month restoration process by Cars by Thermal in California. Detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with images from the restoration. Some noteworthy features include a rear window wiper, front fog lights, European taillight lenses, and factory Fuchs wheels that come dressed in brand new Dunlop tires.
Inside, this 911S features a highly original black leather interior with blue carpeting that has been preserved in excellent condition. Factory leather Sport Seats are equipped along with a period-correct radio and square-weave carpet floor mats. The seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be fully functional including the factory sunroof.
This 911S is equipped with a 2.7 L fuel-injected flat-six engine that sends 165 HP to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transmission. In 2019, this example was completely gone through by the technicians at Cars by Thermal including a major engine-out service along with the replacement of the clutch and throw-out bearing. This 911S is said to be in excellent driving condition with service records dating back to the original purchase.
This sale will include a set of 2 keys and 2 valet keys, the original owner’s manual and stamped maintenance book, tools, a spare tire, service records, a car cover, bra, and a clean title. You should been on the car it is an amazing example of a 1976 911 S. It is always felt like a perfect fit in glove when I get in the car
As a fellow 2THDR, now retired, I should be bidding on this one, as my last Porsche was a similar '76 911S, and it was a fun ride. Pains me to think what I sold that car for, but that was many years ago, and it was just a "used car" back then. My, how times have changed!

@seven76 It is Registered in the state of Oregon. They don’t require cars that are over 40 years old to pass DEQ in Eugene Oregon.
Is car currently registered in California and passed CA emissions?
I also wanted to mention that the original sport seats sun roof and the black on black with blue/black carpet was a pretty rare set of options. Also the car doesn’t leak a drop of oil. It’s a very special 1976 911S
Also the air pump has been removed
I talked to the original owner last night and he said that the car had no thermal reactor because it was a 49 state car. It apparently had an air pump that pumps air into the Exhaust system to allow the car to make emissions specifications back in 1976.

Yes I do. I can have the Service records from the cars whole existence. Which is mainly oil changes I have the book from the Porsche dealer with stamps in it for service is done. And they’re going to put a list of the parts up that they replaced when they restored the car. I also have a bunch of pictures of when they did the restoration too. I can have them out to the site if you would like to see those

Hi my name is Jack and I am the owner of this beautiful 1976 Porsche 911 S. One of my best friends purchased the car in 1976. He decided to sell the car and I purchased the car from him in August of 2019. Over the summer I had the car restored by “Cars by Thermal”
They repainted the lower half of the car because the zinc coating Porsche put on the car when it was built. Apparently 1976 was the first year that they put the zinc coding on the cars and porsche had some problems with the paint adhering to the Zinc coding which created some small bubbles in the paint. They did an amazing job matching the paint and it is really beautiful.
The interior of the car is in wonderful shape the sports seats fit like a glove. The motor is in great shape and runs like a top. The car has a new clutch throw out bearing all the rubber seals shock absorbers and two pages of other parts to bring the car back to it original beauty. It’s truly an amazing 1976 porsche at 911S that someone will really enjoy. Happy Bidding :)
