The Volkswagen Type 2 is renowned as one of the precursors of modern cargo and passenger vans, giving rise to forward control competitors in the United States beginning in the 1960s. Upon the seller's acquisition roughly 10 years ago, this 1975 Volkswagen Kombi Bus is said to have been extensively restored including a professional refinish, new upholstery, a 1,600cc engine, and various mechanical components. Featuring a blue finish over a black interior and a 15-window configuration, this example is now being offered for auction showing approximately 400 km (250 miles) on the odometer.
This Type 2 comes professionally refinished in blue, accented with chrome trim. Details include a split front windshield, paint-matched bumpers, black-finished side mirrors, rear engine cooling vents, chrome-ringed headlights, double passenger doors, a roof-mounted teak wood ski rack, and steel wheels with chrome wheel caps. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
Inside, the cabin was reupholstered with black synthetic leather which covers the seating surfaces and door panels, contrasted with a white headliner and sun visors. The cabin features three rows of seating, including a split front bench. The body-color dash panel presents analog instrumentation, a synthetic leather-wrapped grab handle, and a black-finished steering wheel.
This Kombi is powered by an upgraded air-cooled 1,600cc 4-cylinder engine, sending power to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission. The seller states a new engine and transmission have been installed as part of the extensive restoration, and there are no outstanding maintenance items noted at this time.
This sale will include a clean title.
