A new Beetle joined Volkswagen’s model range for the first time in 1971 and was marketed as the Super Beetle in North America, featuring larger proportions, and equipped as standard with the “L” (Luxus) Package and a 1,600cc engine. This 1975 convertible version comes finished in red over a black vinyl interior and is equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission paired with its air-cooled engine. It has been with the current owner for the past 5 years and used as a showroom display piece while being started and driven occasionally for mechanical exercise. Recently serviced in preparation for sale, this classic Volkswagen Super Beetle is now being offered for auction out of Oregon.
This Beetle is finished in red and equipped with chrome bumpers, a louvered decklid, dual mirrors, and a replacement black soft top. It rides on 15” steel wheels mounted with Jupiter SB-802 radial tires. The seller notes evidence of paintwork on the car and believes it may have been completely refinished at some point under prior ownership. Cosmetic imperfections include small scratches, scuffs, and dings, detailed images are provided in the gallery.
Inside, this Beetle sports a pair of adjustable bucket seats trimmed in black vinyl along with a matching rear bench and door panels. A single gauge mounted ahead of the Wolfsburg-crested steering wheel holds a speedometer, fuel meter, and five-digit odometer. An aftermarket Kenwood stereo has been installed and is said to remain fully functional along with all other accessories. Some signs of wear are noted, and the convertible top liner is recommended for replacement.
An air-cooled and carbureted 1,600cc flat-four engine drives the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual gearbox. Compared to a standard Beetle, the newer Super version measures 2" longer, 1.4" wider, and is equipped with larger drum brakes. A service completed in June 2022 included a new battery and fuel filter as well as a fuel system flush and carburetor adjustment.
This sale will include a clean title.

@GregPappas I guess I see the top has been replaced.
Is the convertible top original or has it been replaced? Can’t see all of it, but it looks to be in decent shape??

Nice example. I had a'73 Super beetle in College. And a 65'Beatle earlier. Love these cars. Easy to maintain and nearly bullet proof. Best
