One of the latest examples of Porsche’s 914, this 1975 model came factory-finished in Scarlet Red and equips with a 5-speed manual gearbox paired with its fuel-injected 1.8-liter engine. It was acquired by a previous owner in 2015 and subsequently repainted along with refurbishments to the interior, engine, transmission, brakes, and more. This 914 was acquired by the seller in 2022 and is now being offered for auction out of California.
This 914 was originally finished in Scarlet Red (L31M), a similar shade to Guards Red borrowed from Volkswagen’s color palette. The car was completely refinished under prior ownership and is said to remain in good overall condition, detailed images are provided in the gallery. Equipment includes black rubber bumpers, a removable black Targa top, black vinyl sail panels, a chrome driver’s side mirror, and period-correct aftermarket Riviera wheels.
The cabin was redone by a previous owner and features new beige carpeting and white vinyl upholstery covering the seats and rear panel. Features include manual roll-up windows, black carpet floor mats, a four-spoke steering wheel, a defroster, and an aftermarket JVC stereo. Some flaws are noted on the dashboard.
A fuel-injected 1.8-liter flat-four engine sends power to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual gearbox. Since 2015, the previous owner is said to have performed overhauls of the engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, and electrical system. A recent oil change was also completed in preparation for sale.
This sale will include a clean title.

Welcome to the close of this no reserve Porsche 914 auction. Thanks for all of the comments and questions and bids so far. As we wind down, here for any last minute questions. This is a no reserve auction so the last man standing gets it. This particular 914 went through a restoration including paint, engine, trans, and other mechanical components in 2016. As you can see from the drive video, it runs and drives as a 914 should.
As a reminder to any new bidders: the clock will reset for 2 minutes for any bid made under the 2 minute mark. No need to prove how good or bad your WiFi is by waiting till the last seconds to bid only to find out it’s not that good.
Happy bidding and good luck!

@Efariab Good morning, thanks! The car is currently titled in Montana. As you mentioned, this car is a 1975 and therefor will not require a smog to register in California.

@WOB, Good morning from S.F. Bay Area ! Beautiful 914 1.8 !
Due to the car showing no license plate in any of the pictures, I'm wandering if this car is currently registered in the state of California ??
Although this car being a 1975 car and may not require smog test in California, but only once it's registered to the new owners name , no more smog tests is needed .
So, does this 914 still have all of its smog/emission parts intact ??
Thanks & GLWA

@jamride no issues in the common area, battery tray looks to be replaced. In2016, this 914 went through a restoration including paint and going through almost all of the mechanicals. The engine and trans were rebuilt, and all other major systems touched. Really enjoy the way this 914 drives, peppy and fun.
Bid in the amount of $6,750
Any rust issues in the common areas? I apologize if they are shown in the pictures but it's very hard to determine while viewing on my phone. Is something propping up the battery? Again I apologize as it's hard to see on a small screen.

@ExoticrareKia All of the work was done in 2016, but not sure of the mileage as it was the previous owner. This car was part of a much bigger collection and wasn't driven much. As you can see in the driving video, car drives as it should and shifts through all of the gears properly. This is a mechanically sound example of a 914.
@wob What was the mileage when the February 2016 work was done?
And what mileage and year was the transmission work completed?

mileage? Thanks!
Welcome to this 75’ 914 1.8 auction. The car was completely repainted a few years ago with somewhere between a driver and concourse quality job. All major mechanical components have been touched along with many others. In February 2016, replacement 96mm big-bore pistons and cylinders, gaskets, crankshaft bearings, a Scat Performance “Hard-Core” torque-profile camshaft, PerTronix electronic ignition, and overhauled fuel injectors were done. The transmission was overhauled, and refreshment of the interior, suspension, brakes, and electrical system was also done. The current wheels on it have a driver quality finish, the aftermarket wheels included in the sale are in good condition. This is a good driving car with a very solid feel as evident in the video. She is no reserve so happy bidding.
