Representing the final version of Porsche’s mid-engine air-cooled sports cars, this 1975 Porsche 914 2.0 is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and comes finished in red over a black interior. This 1975 example was initially sold in Newport Beach, California, and was subsequently sold in 1977 before being acquired by its current owner in 1979. It is said to have remained in California from new and is powered by an upgraded 2.0-liter flat-four cylinder which is said to have been modified by IMSA Porsche mechanic and driver Bill Brewseter. This 914 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.
This 914 comes finished in red with black vinyl sail panels and a removable Targa top. The body shows minor scratches as well as dents in the driver-side rocker panel and door. Additional images can be found in the gallery. Details include pop-up headlights, black rubber bumpers, dual-side mirrors, and a set of 15” wheels dressed in Nexen SB-802 tires.
Inside, bucket seats are upholstered in black vinyl along with a matching dashboard and door panels. The upholstery shows significant wear, commensurate with age and use, and the seller notes that much of the weather stripping is cracked, and that the speedometer, odometer, defroster, fan, and directional signal control are not working. Accessories include hand-crank windows, VDO instrumentation, and a JVC multi-band CD radio with Infinity speakers and antenna.
Power comes from a mid-mounted 2.0-liter flat-four cylinder engine with dual Weber 44 carburetors which is said to have been upgraded by Bill Brewster in the early 2000s. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 5-speed manual transaxle. The seller notes that the engine was rebuilt in 2022 by Frank’s Foreign Car of Campbell, California.
This sale will include the owner’s literature, some service records, and a clean title.

@tpauto Looks like it's part of the carpet in the frunk. Look at photo 40.
In picture 102 there is some thing on there what appears to be the windshield when I blow the picture up at pixelate so I can’t tell what it is. That is what I am referring to as rust or questioning whether that has rust under the windshield. Can you please tell me what that is? Thank you so much.
@tpauto What rust under window? There is a small area of rust on drivers door edge (as seen in photo in inspection)
Inspection does not mention a transmission leak, it noted some residue on it, which is likely a little a very small gasket seepage (see photos in inspection)
Sticky headlights in common on these. Not caused by an accident.

Is that rust under the windshield depicted in one of the pictures? Inspection comments mention a leak in the transmission. Can you elaborate on this. The sticking headlight is that caused by accident damage and is the sheet metal around the headlight touching the headlight somewhere?

Hi All - Regarding the engine modifications:
Bill Brewster rebuilt the engine back in 2010. The original 1.8 motor was bored to 2.0 with new 2.0 high compression Piston kit, new valves, new bottom end upgraded cam. Bill's claim at the time, was after the rebuild that the motor could be safely run up to 6200 rpm’s vs original factory motor of 76 hp and about 5000 rpm; also added a pair of 2 barrel Weber 44 carbs; manifold and throttle linkage system.
Rebuild included new 2nd gear and reverse. New custom manufactured exhaust system also.
Our client is trying to find the invoices from the work, but he recalls it cost him nearly $10K to do at the time.
And then just 6 months ago, the motor was rebuilt again due to a spark plug breaking off in the chamber. (Invoices are in the image gallery)
I am also uploading a photo of the car with the roof panels installed.

Can you comment on what was rebuilt on the motor? Also, can you relate what was wrong with the motor that necessitated rebuilding? Was a clutch also put in? Were there any modifications made to the suspension or any other parts of the car besides the radio? Do you have the original radio? Thank you for your responses
