Now available for auction is this 1975 Porsche 914 2.0 finished in Copper Metallic over a black vinyl interior. This late-model 914 carries a fuel-injected 2.0L flat-four engine and features a Comfort Package center console, custom tartan-upholstered seat centers, an upgraded sound system, and a rare factory paint color offered for one year only. It was sold new in Portland, Oregon, where it has remained under the care of three different owners and treated to a major restoration completed in 2017. With approximately 12k miles driven since, this stunning 914 2.0 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Nevada.
This 914 came factory finished in Copper Metallic (L99K), an exceedingly rare color offered on the Porsche 914 for the 1975 model year only. This year also saw the introduction of newly designed black rubber safety bumpers with integrated rectangular driving lights in front. Additional equipment includes dual chrome mirrors, a black vinyl-covered roll bar with chrome-plated trim strips, and a removable black roof panel. The car was completely refinished in its original color during the restoration in 2017 and the seller describes the paint to be in very good condition overall with few cosmetic imperfections, detailed images are provided in the gallery. A note from the previous owner states rust repair was performed in the front and rear trunk and that all cavities in the body were sealed with rust inhibitor products. Engman-type boxed reinforcements were welded in the cabin and the passenger-side longitudinal was cut out, re-sleeved, and rebuilt with an exterior clamshell reinforcement. The undercarriage was also stripped, rust treated, and preserved with OEM Wurth undercoating. The 15” 4-lug wheels come dressed in a set of Goodyear Eagle Sport tires retaining approximately 10/32” tread.
Inside, the cabin has been redone worth new grey carpeting, black vinyl upholstery, and custom charcoal tartan seat inserts. The footwells are lined with custom black and orange Coco floormats and contain upgraded Kenwood speakers paired with a modern Alpine Bluetooth radio. The optional Comfort Package center console houses a clock, oil temperature gauge, and voltmeter. The value shown on the odometer is said to reflect the mileage traveled since the restoration, and the seller notes one small hairline crack in the dashboard. All gauges and accessories are said to be working properly.
This 914 is equipped with an air-cooled 2.0L fuel-injected flat-four engine (GC002504) which was built by Michael Schantz of Riverdale, California, in 2012 before being shipped to Oregon and paired with the car. The engine uses a 1974 case bored out to a 2,056cc displacement and features an upgraded Webcam camshaft. The rear wheels are driven through a rebuilt 5-speed 901 side-shift manual transmission (HA30105). Notes from the previous owner indicate upgraded stainless steel fuel lines were installed throughout the car along with all new CV joints, a new 911-type master cylinder, and a new spade-type fuse box. The rear brake calipers were rebuilt by PMB Performance and the front calipers were disassembled, white zinc plated, and rebuilt with new OEM seals.
This sale will include owner's manuals, records, an assortment of spare parts, and a clean title. This rare Copper Metallic 1975 example may just be the Porsche 914 you've been searching for, do not miss out.

@Chupee My comments about this car are all 100% positive, other than stating what the seller has already said about the replacement engine and replaced or rebuilt transmission maybe. This is a beautiful car, but I don't like to buy 50-year old cars that are known for rust and other similar issues without seeing it in person and driving the car first. That's all.
GLWA to the seller, someone is going to get one of the best looking driver 914s available and hopefully at a decent price.
5K jump. Interesting.

@LongwoodCharger I have a ton of receipts from restoration look at pics
IIRC, this car has a very extensive rebuilt history through the previous (1-2 owners ago) owners blog and 914world. He was a perfectionist and had to sand down and repainted the car twice to achieve the current condition. The blog was very detailed and mentioned some fitment issues that may or may not have been fully address. I would hope the dealer actually has the big binder full of blog/914world materials with this sale.

@AK9eleven These are just my personal comments based upon a casual look at the pictures added in with nearly 50 years of experience owning, driving and tinkering with 914s. I would not buy it without a personal inspection and test drive, or same by someone I knew I could trust. I got my first one in 1973 right of high school and wanting a cheap, but cool car to use for commuting to college. I had to work 3 part-time jobs to pay for a car that sold for under $4,000 new. It was a basic '73 1.7L in Sunflower Yellow and black interior that got over 35 mpg on the highway, great for a 50 mile commute each way to school, plus work. No options except for a tinted windshield. It had a center cushion in it already that I was not charged for and the basic steel wheels. First thing I did was put in a Sony Cassette AM/FM radio for those 1-hr commutes twice a day. I put over 100,000 miles on it before selling it years ago for $5k with new paint, wheels and that radio. I had to have the engine over-hauled and bored it out to 2056cc that made it run like a bat out of hell, all else was stock other than upgraded shocks and stiffer, 914/6 rear springs. I loved that car more than any 914 I even owned over the following years.
This is a really nice color that looks great on a 914 and makes me want to drive it.

GC002504 would appear to be a 1975 2.0L engine number, however it appears from picture #187 that it originally had a 1.8L engine which would have had an L-Jetronic fuel injection unit that was replaced during the 2011-2017 restoration with a 2.0L (2056cc) engine and D-Jet F.I.. The rebuilt and/or replaced tranny appears to have a 1974 number per picture #147 and #148. The Chassis number 0459031 in picture #94 indicates the Chassis was the 31st car completed on Friday, January 24, 1975 at the Karmann Plant in Osnabrück, Germany. Format is WWD9### where WW is the week of the year (01-53) and D is the day of the week, Mon-Fri (1 thru 5), they didn't roll cars off the line on Sat, Sun or holidays. The 9 indicates the chassis was assembled at the Karmann Plant in Osnabrück, Germany where all of the 914 production cars were made. The last 3 digits indicate the number in order that the chassis was completed that day, 001 thru 099, then they would roll over to 100 up to the number of cars made that particular day. This was changed in late Sept or early Oct of 1974, prior to that the first digit after the "9" was a 5 until over 99 cars were built on a particular day and then roll over to a 6 for the remainder of the cars built that day. Not sure why it was a 5 or 6 until then or why they changed in mid model year to 0 and 1 for the final 15 months of 914 production. The last '76 914 model chassis was made in Dec 1975.
Love the rarely seen original Copper Metallic color, also love the 'Carter Mondale 76' bumper sticker, LOL. This will make a great looking driver for somebody! GLWA

@IXXINut The engine is a 2.0L flat-four, the listing description has been corrected.
Is this a 4 cylinder or a 6 cylinder??? Initial write reads 6 cylinder. Later in write up it reads 4 cylinder.
Unusual to see a restoration/rebuild on a 914-4 especially a few years ago. They were a no-sell at $15k at that time; for a #2+ condition (excellent) example. It's nice to see these wonderful cars finally getting the respect they deserve. BTW, another fave, Karmann Ghias, are moving up too.
Good morning PCarMarket. Looks like a lovely 914. You might want to correct your engine description in the opening comment about it having a 2.0 flat 6. Easy piesy. Other than that looks good.
