Up for auction is this 1975 Porsche 911S coupe finished in Peru Red over a black interior. This example is said to have been under the care of its original owner up until about 24 years ago when it was purchased by a previous owner. A top-end engine rebuild was carried out in 2011 along with the installation performance upgrades including 40mm PMO carburetors, JE pistons, upgraded cams, and a twin-plug ignition system. Since it was last sold on PCARMARKET in 2020, this 911S has received new spark plugs as well as a valve adjustment and carburetor tune-up. An ideal choice for any passionate air-cooled driver, this 2.7L 911S is now being offered for auction in excellent running order by its seller out of California.
This 911S was professionally refinished in Peru Red about 15 years ago, and the original color of the car was Gemini Blue per the paint-code located in the driver's door jamb. Detailed images showing the condition of the paint are provided in the photo gallery. Exterior features include added late-model galvanized steel doors, H4 headlights, dual side-view mirrors, and chrome window trim. This example rides on polished 16” Fuchs wheels which are currently dressed in BF Goodrich g-Force Sport COMP-2 tires showing date codes from 2014 and 2015. The hood and front fenders are reported to have been replaced under previous ownership following an accident.
The black interior of this 911 is shown to be in great shape with some signs of wear noted on the driver’s seat bolster. Features include power-operated windows, an aftermarket three-spoke MOMO steering wheel, an aftermarket shift knob, a Sony radio, upgraded speakers, and Coco floormats.
This 911S is equipped with a 2.7L flat-six engine that sends power to the rear wheels by way of a 915 5-speed manual transmission with a limited-slip differential. The factory fuel-injection system has been swapped out in favor of 40mm PMO carburetors and the engine has been upgraded with 11:1 JE pistons, a remote oil-cooler, Web Cams camshafts, and a twin-plug ignition system including dual MSD boxes. Upgraded 911SC brakes have also been installed along with Turbo tie rods, 21/27mm torsion bars, and Bilstein HD shocks. A comprehensive top-end engine rebuild was carried out in late 2011 along with a rebuild of the gearbox including a new clutch. This 911S is reported to drive beautifully and recent service performed in the last year is said to include new spark plugs, a valve adjustment, and carburetor tune-up.
The sale will include the original books, spare tire, and a clean title. Now is your chance to get behind the wheel of a well-sorted and tastefully upgraded air-cooled 911, do not miss out.

It appears that the engine was upgraded with the carrera oil fed chain tensioners. On the right side of the engine (in the pictures) above the cover for the camshafts you can see the tell-tale sign of the small lines which port off the lube oil from the cam shaft feed lines to the bottom of the front cover. The line is metal and about the size of a brake line. I am not a 911 mechanic but have been researching this modification.
@Neddy See pic #108 for leakdown numbers from a previous BaT auction for this car:
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1975-porsche-911s-35/
@Neddy No idea, can't tell by the way it runs. No idea on leak down
@Dsandwick - Thanks. Do you have any insight or info as to why the compression for cylinder #6 is noticeably lower than the others? Can you also provide the leakdown numbers?
@Dsandwick I can't get a copy posted by auction close tomorrow but here is the information. The Test was done by Westwerk German Auto Repair in Downey California. In Order 1-6
200,200,205,200,205,175. We just did a complete Valve adjustment with the tune-up and did not do another test.
@Neddy I think there is one in the paperwork I have. I'll find and post it when I get home in a while.
Additional photos have been added to the listing gallery.
@Dsandwick - thank you. Do you happen to have recent (within last few years) compression/leak down numbers?
@Pasha I still have them, and your welcome to exchange them if you like. The original ones are in poor condition that's why I swapped them... Totally up to you.
@DSandwick - The seats have been switched out from the time you purchased on (from horizontal stitching to smooth headrests). See photos #31 and #32 from your original purchase ad: https://www.pcarmarket.com/auction/1975-porsche-911s-1/
Do the seats with horizontal stitching on headrests come with the car too? Or, is there an option to choose between the two?
@nosub911 I have a ton of recipes but none say tensioners but the motor was shaken down and turned into a Twin Plug By a very reputable shop in LA. It's unlikely they would have put hydraulic tensioners. but can't swear to it. I am adding pictures on most of the paperwork I received when I bought it tomorrow.
@Neddy I bought the car exactly as you see it. It's not a flip I'm just worn out from working on my 77 Outlaw, it's nearly done and My intention was to build an RS Trubuit with this one. Just ran out of energy. I know of no damage to the chassis and I've been all over this car, and I certainly wouldn't do a repair and flip, not my deal.

What sort of exhaust/heat exchangers does this car have? Many 1975 cars came with those awful thermal reactors. Have those been removed and replaced with ‘74 style header/heat exchagers or perhaps SSI’s ?
Bid in the amount of $30,500
@nosub911 I just found a package of books and receipts that the former owner sent to me while looking for other information. There are many receipts. I don't see receipts for motor work but a lot of information from the guy I bought it from. He had all the work done and knew everything about it. I will try to post additional pictures of this info. There are manuals for everything he put on the car. Please check-in. I'll post more.
Nice looking car with great upgrades. Do you know if the chain tensioners were updated? Is any of the engine work and/or maintenance history documented?

@cord4530 The link is correct 1975 is Exempt
@cord4530 Your correct I don't know much but here is what I do know. The work was done in a Porsche shop someplace near Long Beach Ca. And as we did a valve adjustment recently my motor guy found that they used ASCO Springs and Retainers. This is thought of as good hardware at their shop. Sorry, I can't provide more.
Lovely car, appreciate the rust (lack of) comments.
As far as i know 75 or older in CA do not require smog test.
@Alltime I don't know if this link is trustworthy, but it says vehicles 1975 and older do not need smog testing in CA.
https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/vehicle-registration/smog-inspections/
Just curious, does CA required you to get a smog for this model year? Or is it exempt?
I'm sure this is way before your ownership, but do you have any information about machine work on the engine cases? With the magnesium cases it seems like caseserts, line boring, oil case bypass, etc. are often done. Do you know if anything has been done to the cases? Or just the top-end rebuild?
No worries, I didn't get get it when I bought the car but I believe I have the stock wheel for the 77 I'm building now and your sure welcome to that one if you like.
Does the original OEM steering wheel accompany the car? Sorry if I missed that detail somewhere.
Hi Friends, I'm the seller/owner. I am happy to answer any questions I can about this car. I bought this car because It was a great driver and it has a Twin Plug 2.7 Liter and some other mods that made a perfect candidate for an RS-Tribute car. the 2.7 is very strong and I found no rust. I am currently building a 77 Outlaw 911S and frankly, I'm not sure I'll ever have time or energy for another build. It's a nice driver as is or a great place to start an RS-Tribute or even an Outlaw. Thanks for looking and I'll check for questions often.
