This 1975 Porsche 911S Targa has been refinished in red over a tan interior and features a 2.7-liter flat-six engine paired with a 5-speed manual transaxle. It comes equipped with a Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection system, upgraded chain tensioners, SSI heat exchangers, a Dansk sport muffler, Turbo tie rods, a front-mounted oil cooler, a 9HAUS steering wheel, a JWest RennShift short shifter, an Apple CarPlay-enabled stereo, an under-seat Kicker subwoofer, Kicker speakers, LED dashboard lights, and 15” cookie-cutter alloy wheels. Acquired by the seller from its previous owner of 38 years in January 2024, this 911S Targa is now being offered for auction out of California.

The exterior was refinished in red from its original Peru Red (042) color over two decades ago by the previous owner. Equipment includes a brushed stainless-steel Targa bar, a removable roof panel, chrome headlamp bezels, front fog lights, an oil cooler air scoop, a driver’s side mirror, and aftermarket 15” cookie-cutter alloy wheels with new BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires mounted in July 2023. A set of aftermarket 15” Fuchs-style wheels is available to the next owner for an additional shipping cost. The seller indicates that the Targa top is an aftermarket fiberglass piece covered in period-correct black vinyl, a small paint crack can be seen on the hood, and an area was repainted between the bumperettes. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The tan interior received new front seat upholstery and carpets under previous ownership. It features a 9HAUS steering wheel, a JWest RennShift short shifter, a cabin heater, an analog clock, folding rear seatbacks, silver alloy bezels, LED dashboard lights, and Porsche-branded floor mats. An Apple CarPlay-enabled stereo head unit has been installed and paired with Kicker speakers in the doors and rear deck, and an amplified Kicker subwoofer mounted beneath the passenger seat. The seller notes the oil level gauge is inaccurate, the odometer has rolled over once, and the turn signal stalk defaults to the high-beam position.

Featuring Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection, the 2.7-liter flat-six engine was factory-rated at 165 HP and 197 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle. Modifications include upgraded chain tensioners, an airbox pop-off valve, SSI heat exchangers, a Dansk sport muffler, a front-mounted oil cooler, and a Rennline Turbo tie rod kit. Recent maintenance includes replacement of the CDI ignition module, ignition coil, wiring harness, distributor components, spark plugs, and valve adjustments. The seller notes a few drops of oil leak from the engine per week.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, a car cover, a battery trickle charger, a clean title, and a set of 15” Fuchs-style wheels (buyer pays shipping).

The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for considering my classic 1975 Porsche 911S Targa. I purchased it and shipped it to California in January 2024. I invite you to compare the pictures taken then and the new pictures now to see how much work I've put into the car to increase safety and reliability.  It's a great vintage car and will bring the new owner nothing but great memories.  Maintenance is up-to-date, and the tires are new.  Interior and exterior upgrades are tasteful and functional, and the new stereo sounds amazing with Wireless CarPlay capability.”

Can I see the car this weekend?

  • rcswift1 (seller) 2 days, 18 hoursago

@Stevenp3762 Well, there are no guarantees in life (except death/taxes). At this point in the car's life, I believe it is as reliable as possible, but she is 50 years old. :)

Let me know if you want a video of the stereo system (though my iPhone will likely NOT capture the fantastic sounds of the new speakers, underseat powered subwoofer, and wireless CarPlay enabled headunit. I can also upload a drive-by video, since I think that may have not been uploaded...just let me know.

Thanks for considering my auction! Just a quick few points of clarification: The odometer is 5-digit, so it has rolled over once (99,999 plus the 9,349 miles). I've spent a ton of time, money, and sweat equity getting this car reliable, safe, and sporty. The exterior lights, as well as the dash lights, are LED, as are the headlights. BRIGHT! You'll notice in the cold start video it fires up right away. The driving video demonstrates (I hope) the precise shifting action of the J-West shifter (no longer feels like you're stirring a pot of stew). The OEM cookie cutters have new tires, and so do the Fuchs replicas (which will go with the car, buyer pays shipping). If you're local, let me know, I'll offer test drives. And hey, if it doesn't sell, at least I've got a great set of photos of my sweet little vintage Porsche.
