Available for auction is this 1975 Mercedes-Benz R107 450SL finished in red over a beige MB-Tex interior. The R107 SL-Class was introduced in North America in 1972 and featured a large 4.5-liter V8 that was eventually replaced by a smaller displacement engine after 1980. This 1975 example comes equipped with a color-matched hardtop, a new convertible soft top, power accessories, and more. It is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California while showing just under 23k miles on its 5-digit odometer.
The North American market R107 came equipped with distinctive quad-sealed beam headlights, and from 1974 on gained larger front and rear safety impact bumpers. This example comes finished in red with a tan pinstripe and a new convertible soft in black. A color-matched removable hardtop is also supplied. Details include front fog lights and a power antenna as well as chrome bumpers, trim, and 14” steel wheels with body-colored hubcaps dressed in a set of radial tires. Additional images can be found in the gallery.
The cabin is trimmed in beige MB-Tex vinyl with matching door panels and carpeting. Amenities include air conditioning, central locking, power windows, and a JVC cassette radio. The seller notes that the cabin remains in good overall condition, and confirms that all gauges and accessories remain functional with the exception of the air conditioning and radio.
Power comes from a 4.5-liter V8 engine equipped with Bosch D-Jetronic fuel injection which produced up to 180 HP and 220 lb-ft of torque when new. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 3-speed automatic transmission. The R107 was factory equipped with power steering, a fully independent suspension, and power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes. The seller states there are no outstanding maintenance items at this time.
This sale will include a clean title.
