The 1974 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe represents the inaugural year of the G-Series 911 and the range-topping model available in the U.S. Finished in Light Yellow over Midnight leatherette upholstery, this Carrera is one of only 528 examples that were imported for the year. It features a fuel-injected 2.7-liter flat-six engine, a 5-speed manual transaxle, Carrera-script side stripes, a ducktail spoiler, flared rear fenders, power windows, air conditioning, an aftermarket sound system, and 15” Fuchs wheels. Cared for by the same owner from 1981 until 2023, this highly collectible 911 Carrera is now being offered for auction out of Louisiana.

The Carrera model features wider rear fenders than a standard 911 Coupe, along with a ducktail rear spoiler and Carrera-script side stripes inspired by the iconic Carrera RS 2.7 model from the year prior. This example was factory-finished in Light Yellow and is equipped with body-colored headlamp rings, front fog lights, a driver’s side mirror, chrome window moldings, pop-out rear quarter windows, black bumperettes, and polished 15” Fuchs forged alloy wheels. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

Appointed with Midnight leatherette upholstery, the cabin features front bucket seats, folding rear seatbacks, a black leather three-spoke steering wheel, power windows, a heated rear window, analog VDO gauges, an under-dash air conditioning system, and a JVC head unit with aftermarket Polk speakers.

Equipped with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection, the 2.7-liter flat-six engine was factory-rated at 175 HP and 168 lb-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven through a 5-speed manual transaxle, and stopping power is derived from ventilated four-wheel disc brakes. Records from previous ownership indicate the engine was rebuilt in 2008, the valve covers were replaced in 2016, and a brake fluid flush was performed in 2018.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, service records, and a clean title.

A very nice, collectable and fun to drive 911 Carrera. After looking closely at the pics, it looks like this Carrera has been driven - which is a plus in my opinion. I do see quite a few rock chips above and below the front bumper and various small scrapes on the body. I have a few questions, some of which have been asked by others:
-mileage? Can the stated 68k mileage be verified? Or is it 168k?
-original paint? Might be too late, but any chance of getting paint readings?
-engine health? Would it be possible to show the engine rebuild receipt from 2008? Any recent compression and leak down tests done?
-videos? Any chance you could do a driving video?
-ownership history? Any idea how many owners over the life of the car?
Answers to these questions would be very helpful to bidders as your auction is coming to the end. I am very interested. Thanks.

Nice Carrera, is the duck tail a period factory piece, ie…metal frame with fiberglass. Thanks, Tom

@jlking964 just opened the Frunk, we have the spare wheel of course but I do not see the tool roll or compressor.

    @kbbcpa5
    74 didn't have a rubber front spoiler. That didn't happen till 75.
Unusual to find one that someone didn't add it to.

Is this original paint? If not, when was it repainted and are there any records/receipts documenting the respray?

Can you confirm that the mileage is indeed 68,420 miles or is it 168K miles? description mentions engine rebuild in 2008, can you elaborate on what all was done--was it just a top end rebuild or complete rebuild? and how many miles have been put on the car since the rebuild?

I owned. 1974 Carrera Targa years ago. I thought it had a rubber front spoiler. This one doesn’t have a front spoiler. Do any of you know the original spec?

A ducktail spoiler was on the 1974 Carrera and a whaletail was on the 1975 Carrera.

Beautiful example. I'm not familiar with this model, didn't know that any regular Carreras came with a ducktail. Very cool.

Lot of nice pics of this Carrera; may have missed it but don't recall seeing the "tool roll" or "original" tire compressor. Are they still with the vehicle?
