Celebrating the Porsche 917/30 racecar’s dominance in the 1973 Can-Am series, this Porsche 914 Limited Edition (LE) was offered in two different unique color combinations with 500 examples produced each. This 1974 Porsche 914 LE is one of the 500 “Creamsicle” cars finished in Light Ivory with Phoenix Red accents and painted wheels. It was purchased by the seller out of California in 2022 and was subject to a complete restoration at a cost of over $70k. This rare 914 LE is now being offered for auction out of Florida.
The 914 LE came without vinyl sail panel covers and features a “Can-Am” front spoiler, painted 15” alloy wheels, and contrasting Porsche side stripes with matching accents on the valences and bumpers. This 1974 “Creamsicle” version is finished in Light Ivory with Phoenix Red contrasts and is said to have been completely refinished during the restoration. Equipment includes pop-up headlamps, fog lights, a fender-mounted antenna, dual mirrors, a removable black roof panel, black bumperettes, and a polished tailpipe.
The restored interior features black vinyl upholstery with basketweave pattern seat centers, a matching dashboard, and door panels. The 914 LE came standard with the Appearance Group which adds a center console with a clock and additional gauges for temperature and battery voltage. Accessories include an aftermarket Dino three-spoke steering wheel, a Porsche-crested gear knob, a heater, a glovebox, and an aftermarket stereo.
An air-cooled and fuel-injected 2.0-liter flat-four engine delivers up to 95 HP and 116 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle. Stopping power comes from disc brakes and the 914 LE features front and rear anti-roll bars as standard equipment. The seller indicates a complete mechanical restoration has been performed and there are no outstanding service items.
This sale will include a spare tire and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Beautiful restoration, ready for show or road trip. Very rare!”

Forgive my ignorance: does "Ended" mean that the reserve was not met? Or is the car sold?
Bid in the amount of $20,000
The auction for this car has been somewhat odd, starting with the wrong VIN which was likely a simple typo. The mileage of the car is listed incorrectly at 30k when the odometer shows just over 39k and one of the last couple of times it was sold the ad said 38,975 miles, so it was driven less than 1,000 miles by current and previous owner combined? I'm guessing it may be 139k total based upon the condition in the prior auctions and by the age for certain. My '73 had >120k by 1980. One of the earlier advertisements showed the car to be painted entirely white or Light Ivory and it did not have any of the LE or even Appearance Group equipment. No center console or gauges, no CanAm front spoiler, and no OE leather-covered steering wheel, however, it did have fog lights. I don't understand how one spends $70k on restoration and leaves the old non-OEM center cushion and wrong and/or broken window winders. There are other pictures at the old site still available which show some of the underside and other areas of concern for those interested at https://www.europeancollectibles.com/vehicles/979/1974-porsche-914 or the car in all white can be found with a simple VIN search turns up even more. @muddymogriffin The restoration was performed between Jan 2022 and July 2023. The receipts are pretty comprehensive, however, the restorer's number is listed on the receipts and I'm sure he would be happy to answer any questions. I am in Bigfork Mt for the summer and the car is here as well. If you would like to view the car, please let me know.
Greetings,
Do you have dates for when the work was performed by Jewell Basin Auto Repair? The various invoices seem silent to that. The shop is in our neck of the woods in Montana near Flathead Lake and the Jewell Basin. Surprised not to have seen it. I wonder if the shop owner could provide the details requested by the commenters. In one invoice there is mention of preparing the car for wrap. What was ultimately done to the exterior to bring the car to "driver condition" as noted by invoice? Finally, the photos are set in Montana. Are they recent? Thanks.
Bid in the amount of $12,000
A bit hard to read the MT invoices but my concern came about with the comment from the shop. "lots of rust and very poor previous body work." There was a $250 charge for welding supplies but I can't see where any repair panels were purchased. These were the basis for my comment and question. It certainly looks very nice on the exterior but those of us that have had to work on these know the longs and "hell hole" are the real tell. It does look like you bought a ton of engine parts so I suspect the drive train is good to go. Most certainly the shop had a lot of time but these invoices look like $22k, not $70k
@dhuckabay The car was not a basket case. It was a very good driver but because of it's provinence, I wanted it properly restored so I turned it over to my restoration guy and told him to do it right, The only rust was minor surface rust. No metal needed to be replaced during the resto. The underside is very clean but I have no lift available to get better pics
Bid in the amount of $10,000
Looking over the invoices and it appears this was a real basket case. Comments on rust are an obvious concern along with a seeming lack of parts that would go to rust repair. Any chance of getting better pics of the underside and the longs?
@Dorothy1 Curious, does this mean the car will come with the correct steering wheel or that the buyer needs to source it?
I also would like to see the receipts for the work done.

Could you please take a picture of the drivers side door jam ID sticker and the ID plate between the hinges? thank you!!
@PCARMARKET has not even corrected the VIN for the car which has an extra "5" after the 9 in the middle of the number. I also wish they would put the receipts in the gallery.
@935 They were sent to PCAR so they should be available. If they can't provide, send me you email and i'll send them directly.
