Available for auction is this 1974 Porsche 914 finished in silver over a black interior. This 914 has been extensively modified and refurbished throughout its life and was acquired by the seller about three years ago equipped with fender flares, a silver finish, 916 bumpers, 5-lug Fuchs wheels, and a 911 SC front suspension. During their ownership, the seller installed a 2.4-liter flat-six engine from a 1973.5 911T and performed extensive maintenance and additional upgrades. Ready to be driven, this modified 914 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Maryland.
This 914 was refinished in the current silver color after fiberglass fender flares were added under prior ownership. Notable exterior maintenance and upgrades include a silver-painted roof, GT-style front and rear bumpers installed by the seller, a modified GT-style engine grille, new front and rear trunk seals, new taillight seals, Euro turn signals, and LED exterior lights. It rides on 15” Fuchs wheels dressed in Sumitomo and Dunlop tires. The seller notes the car had structural damage repaired under previous ownership and some areas of paint bubbling can be seen. Additional images can be found in the gallery including VIN stampings for replacement parts used for the repair.
The seller replaced the former brown interior with new black upholstery and red tartan seats. Maintenance and upgrades include a RennShift shifter, new shifter linkage bushings, a Rennline footboard, a new and re-wired GT-style hockey puck horn, a VW gas gauge, a new windshield, and new sun visors. The seller recommends servicing the wipers and states the safety belt warning has been bypassed and the door-ajar buzzer is currently inoperable. All other gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be working properly.
This 914 is equipped with a replacement 2.4-liter flat-six engine from a 1973.5 911T with leak-down numbers of 2% or less. While installing the engine, the seller fixed a few rust issues and upgraded the engine with PMO 40mm carburetors, PMO intake manifolds, and Turbo lower valve covers. Other performance upgrades and maintenance include a 914-6 oil tank, oil filler neck, oil dipstick, engine tin, headers, modified oil cooler, throttle linkage, and lightweight flywheel along with a 911 muffler, new oil lines, a new stainless steel fuel return line (one had already been done), new engine seals, new underbody air flaps, a new clutch, a new clutch linkage, a new Hi-Torque starter, a Ford starter relay mod, a refurbished pedal assembly, new engine bay seals, new engine lid seals, an AEM UEGO AFR gauge, and a new airbox seal. Additionally, the seller removed the relay board and rewired the engine compartment for a cleaner look, keyed all locks the same, and refurbished the emergency brake and rear brakes. Power is sent through to the rear wheels a 5-speed manual transmission with a modified shift linkage.
This sale will include a clean title, spare tire, additional straight hood, various parts, and some documentation.
The seller would like you to know: "Thank you for checking out this fun Porsche. It is first and foremost a driver's car. You can drive it from coast to coast and it will not let you down. It really needs someone to take it to the next level by addressing the bodywork faults. It is the only thing holding this 6 back from looking stunning."

@Jarod964 no structural rust issues. To be clear I refer to those as hell hole into the suspension console and longs. Areas that are not getting worse, but you may want to address are, the rear trunk, the passenger rear corner, the hole left by the dealer AC install, various small spots on the body I point out in the walk around video.
Bid in the amount of $12,000
Looks like a lot of rust still remaining - is all of this surface, or is there still additional structural rust that hasn't been patched yet?
@LuxuryAutomax yeah the pictures were not put in chronological order. I wanted potential buyers to see a lot of rust repairs that have already been addressed. Check the walk around vid and under carriage for the latest condition.

Welcome everyone! I'm a long time member in both the Pelican and 914world communities contributing help and content. When it comes to selling anything I like to be transparent. Owning this car for the past few years has been quite a journey. It is such a blast to run through the gears on the back roads with the top off. Let me know of any questions or pics you may want to see. I have a full walk-around vid as well as an underneath look. Good luck and happy bidding.
