Up for auction is this custom 1974 Porsche 911S finished in Orange over a black interior with Houndstooth upholstered seats.  Featuring an original 2.7 L European flat-six engine paired with a number’s matching 5-speed manual gearbox, this 911S recently underwent a professional bare-metal restoration which included genuine RS fender flares, a ducktail rear decklid, and a custom reupholstered interior.  The enhanced appearance of this 911S has been matched with performance upgrades including Carrera chain tensioners, an M&K exhaust, new Bilstein Sport shocks, lightweight RSR sway bars, and a Stop-Tech big brake kit.  Reported to be in exceptional driving condition, this 911S is now being offered by its seller out of Missouri with approximately 52k miles shown on the 5-digit odometer.

Within the last year, this 911S was treated to a professional bare-metal respray in its factory specified single-stage Orange (156) Glasurit paint.  During this time OEM steel RS fender flares were installed along with Porsche side graphics and a high-quality fiberglass ducktail spoiler with an OEM-style rear wiper option.  All body panels were refitted to exacting factory specifications and the finish on this 911 is said to remain in pristine condition (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery).  New LED headlights have been installed with yellow lenses and matching lower fog lights.  the clear lenses will be included with the sale.  Other noteworthy features include pop-put rear quarter windows, a front spoiler, and European bumperettes. This example rides on freshly restored Porsche 7” and 8” Fuchs wheels wrapped in new Pirelli S6000 tires.

The cabin has been completely reupholstered with new square weave carpeting and front seats with distinctive Houndstooth fabric inserts.  Other features include a new RSR steering wheel, color-matched aluminum floorboards, RS-style door panels, black and orange Coco floor mats, and a Porsche classic radio with navigation and Bluetooth.   The seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be fully functional.

This 911S carries its original European 2.7 L flat-six CIS fuel-injected engine (#6342052) that sends approximately 180 HP to the rear wheels through a number’s matching 915 5-speed manual gearbox (#7346614).  The engine has been upgraded with Carrera chain tensioners, Turbo valve covers, new SSI heat exchangers, and an M&K stainless-steel exhaust system.  Other upgrades include a big brake kit with Stop-Tech aluminum calipers, a fully overhauled suspension with new Bilstein Sport shocks and tower mounts, new adjustable RSR lightweight sway bars with adjustable drop links, Turbo tie rods, adjustable rear spring plates, and an adjustable bump steer kit.  New rear axle shafts have been recently installed and this 911S is said to be in superb driving condition.

This sale will include a set of 2 keys, original manuals, the warranty booklet with the original owner's name and a Porsche toolkit.

@Scaticobunk7 ...l checked both the underside mesh and the outside grill, both are metal. Aluminum I assume.
I'm with you on the pop-out windows.

    Beautifully restored 2.7. The addition
of a ‘m. y. ‘74’ right-side mirror, though not a factory option is acceptable.( As a forgettable note, the
    ‘74-77’ r/s mirrors, in r/s driven Euro
models, used the smaller, ‘73 mirrors)
The re-use of the OEM rear view mirror mount is incredible, considering the OEM Sekurit windshield appears to have been replaced. Personally, I find the steering wheel design and diameter
to be out-of-place (along with the orange floorboards, over-the-top).
The OEM Glasurit paint color was referred to Blut Orange. Rare rear
wiper w/ duck-tail spoiler! Is the
engine lid grate OEM aluminum or
plastic, as used later on ? The reference to Euro-style bumpers is a bit misleading, in that all ‘74-77 USA
    models had the narrow(er) bumpers.
Beautiful example of the 2.7 coupé.
The pop-out rear windows are so classic...bring ‘em back !

I provided the VIN, ENGINE NUMBER, TRANS NUMBER. The delivering dealership name and date of delivery, as recorded in the original owners manual, that also specifies the the engine number as well. ALL CHECK OUT.
Have you ever seen a more perfect body and paint?

  • DRIVELLC (registered bidder) 3 years, 12 monthsago

Nathanbs the listing mentions a “European 2.7 L” motor and shows km/h on the odometer so yes, I am thinking this is exactly that. Perhaps the Seller can clarify. Sorry if I am mistaken.

  • Nathanbs (registered bidder) 3 years, 12 monthsago

@DRIVELLC I think you guys are confusing this with a 74 Euro Carrera which would have had MFI. The 74 911s did not come with MFI. The only 2.7 mfi cars in 74 besides the carreras were perhaps a police edition but even that may not have been until a year or so later.

  • DRIVELLC (registered bidder) 3 years, 12 monthsago

Correction--The 1974 CIS engine spec was 175 HP, not 180

  • DRIVELLC (registered bidder) 3 years, 12 monthsago

I believe that @vintage_belo is correct. This car should have been built with MFI, resulting in 210 HP, vs the CIS (for the US market) with 180 HP. It would be helpful to know more history as to how (and why) this has its original engine, but CIS and not MFI. Is there any documentation (Porsche C of A, for example) that shows the original engine specs?

@vintage_belo Expecting have this PORSCHE shipped to the US, Mr. Klein may have specified CSI or it was change upon import to appease US regulators. A common practice 'FEDERLIZED'. Mostly done to turbo PORSCHE's in the mid '70's.

  • vintage_belo (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

@PORSCHE1 @jd-gt350 K-Jetronic was developed for the US market only (for emission purposes). In Europe they used Bosch which is quite different. Given that this car is a Euro version I would expect that kind of injection system.

  • PORSCHE1 (seller) 4 yearsago

    @vintage_belo K-Jetronic (1973–1994)
Mechanical fuel injection, 'K' stands for German: "Kontinuierlich", meaning continuous. Commonly called 'Continuous Injection System (CIS).

  • vintage_belo (registered bidder) 4 yearsago

As far as I know Euro 911s from 1974 were all MFI, not CIS. Why isn't the case here?

Welcome to all. Up for your consideration our 1974 EURO 911s.
Delivered 02.19.74 to KLEIN of Frankfurt, by dealer Otto Glockler , as stated in the original owners manual. Also shown service by that dealership thru 60,000km.
This example as revealed has had no area or system, not addressed during a total concourse restoration. Conversations with the shop indicate you provide the car and $150k and this is the result.
I have asked for PCAR to include photos of the underside, that demonstrate the attention to splendid detail.

Prestine numbers matching 911S in high gloss Glasurit single stage, the original FACTORY Orange. 1 Year old bare-metal paint. All panels have been fitted back to OEM specification. 3-4 MM gaps. Freshly restored PORSCHE Fuchs 7x15 fronts and 8x15 rears wrapped in new Pirelli S6000 185/70 fronts and 215/60 rears. Big brake kit aluminum calipers from Tech-Stop. Drilled and slotted rotors. Full fresh suspension rebuild. New Bilstein Sport Shocks and tower mounts. New Racing Retro RSR adjustable light weight sway bars system with adjustable Drop Links. New Rubber Bushings throughout. Improved new Turbo Style Tie Rods, improves steering precision and feedback. New quick change light weight rear adjustable Spring Plates. Adjustable Bump Steer Kit fully weather sealed.
No part of this PORSCHE is unrestored to factory or better specifications. So I acquired little history.
I do not have a current leak down test, I would make every effort to assist any interested buyers to obtain a PPI.

    @ jd-gt350 beautiful car! A few questions:
    1. Is this the original color?
    2. Rebuilt engine? If not, do you have leak down numbers?
    3. Any maintenance records?
