Presented in its factory color of Bahama Blue over black leather upholstery, this 1974 Porsche 911 Targa has been modified in the style of a Carrera and equipped with a 911SC-derived 3.0-liter flat-six engine. It also features ported cylinder heads, larger intake runners, Nikasil cylinder liners, Carrera-spec brakes, thicker torsion bars, adjustable sway bars, Bilstein dampers, an aftermarket shifter, and more. Documentation dates back to 1987 showing the car was sold from Golden Classics of Beverly Hills, California, to an owner in New Jersey who eventually sold it to the current owner in 2011. This tastefully customized and upgraded Targa is now being offered for auction out of Indiana.
This 911 has been refinished in its rare factory-specified color of Bahama Blue (354) and modified with Carrera-style fender flares, a ducktail spoiler, and silver Carrera-script side graphics. Other details include a brushed stainless-steel Targa bar, a removable black roof panel, Hella H4 headlamps, a polished driver’s side mirror, a fender-mounted antenna, and 16” Fuchs-style wheels measuring 7” wide in front and 8” wide in the rear with Bridgestone Potenza S0007A tires. The seller describes the paint as in excellent condition with a few minor rock chips, detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin has been reupholstered in black leather with charcoal carpeting and features RS-style door panels with cloth pull straps and aluminum window rollers. Other accessories include manually adjustable bucket seats, a three-spoke leather steering wheel, an aftermarket shifter assembly, and a Blaupunkt Detroit AM/FM cassette stereo. The seller reports the tachometer needle fluctuates, although all other gauges and accessories are working properly.
Power comes from a replacement 3.0-liter flat-six engine sourced from a 1979 Porsche 911SC and upgraded with larger intake runners, Nikasil cylinder liners, ported cylinder heads, and a 28-row brass oil cooler. The rebuilt engine was installed in 2010 and sends power to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle. The car also features Carrera-spec brakes and an upgraded suspension with Bilstein dampers, 21mm front and 27mm rear torsion bars, and adjustable 22mm sway bars front and rear. Service in 2020 includes new valve cover gaskets, fuel lines, and fuel injector cleaning. The spark plugs and fuel pump were also replaced in 2024. The seller notes the synchromesh is worn in the second and third gears and the transmission whines at speed when in fourth and fifth gears. The hood shocks need to be replaced and the front hood latch requires adjustments. Engine leak down and compression test results from April 2024 are provided below:
This sale will include owner’s manuals, service records, a spare tire.
The seller would like you to know: “This 74 911 Outlaw is presented in the original factory color of Bahama Blue. The vehicle saw a bare metal window out respray and still looks great today. The original 2.7L was swapped with a stock-rebuilt 79 911 SC 3.0L engine and transaxle. The 79 3.0L with the desirable large port intake runners and heads. Overall, this vehicle presents extremely well and can be used for both cruising and track duty. It is well received at any enthusiast meetup. The interior was originally tan and has been mostly replaced with Black throughout. The paint is in excellent condition with a few rock chips and the Targa top presents well for its age. Detailed service records start in 1987 when the vehicle was purchased from Golden Classics from Beverly Hills, CA, and sold to an owner in Watchung, NJ with 73k miles. Throughout his ownership, he kept detailed receipts of all state inspections, parts orders, service records, and many personal notes creating a detailed history of his ownership. When the current owner purchased the vehicle in 2011 with 127,524 miles the documentation was passed along, and additional servicing was added. The vehicle has seen less than 4,000 miles since that time and has been completed by Farmer’s Automotive and Euro Motorworks in Indianapolis, IN.”

Welcome to the final day of the 911 auction! Let us know if there are any questions about the car before the sale ends.
@dwu029 Two camps on Farmers shop, those who swear by him, those who swear at him, I'm in the latter.
Wonder how accurate the color is when comparing to factory’s Bahamas Blue. Looks very good in photos here. Wish it is nearby I could view in person.
It was on another auction recently surprisingly did not meet reserve.

@Whatever123 what does that mean
Great looking car, with a great seller. Only downside is Farmers Automotive has been involved with it.
Appears to be a nice car. It was on Pelican for a couple months at what seemed like a reasonable number. GLWTA

Good morning and welcome to the auction of the 1974 Porsche 911 Targa! We truly love this Pcar and we are excited to bring this air-cooled gem to Pcar Market! Let us know if you have any questions about the Targa. We just found out a few days ago that the wheels are genuine Fuchs 16" wheels (Photos 104-106 show the numbers on the back of the wheels). If anybody would like to visit the 911 in person, please reach out to us to schedule a visit to our showroom in Indianapolis. Good luck to all bidders!
