We are pleased to present this 1974 Porsche 911 Targa finished in Black over a matching leather interior. Marking the inaugural model for the G-series platform, this Carrera Targa represents one of only 246 U.S. examples produced for the 1974 model year and has been under meticulous care and restoration. It comes equipped with a fuel-injected flat-six engine, a 5-speed manual gearbox, a limited-slip differential, and a factory-optioned ducktail spoiler made legendary by the Carrera RS model of the year prior. This example also showcases the Ornamental Paintwork in Gold and Chrome Plated Parts options. Before its current owner, this example was purchased in 2015 from a longtime previous owner out of California who held a collection of vintage Porsches. With mechanical and cosmetic refurbishments by specialists at TRE Motorsports and Air Motorsports of Van Nuys totaling approximately $65k, this Carrera Targa is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.
This Targa comes finished in Black with gold Carrera script graphics along each side. The exterior Chrome Plated Parts option was selected in favor of the factory's standard matte black finish. In 2015, this example was brought to TRE Motorsports and Air Motorsports of Van Nuys, who refinished the 15” Fuchs wheels back to their correct shade of gold, fitted them with new Pirelli P6000 tires, and performed a reapplication of the Carrera script along with some paint improvements. The exterior is described to be in very good condition with only a few minor bubbles on the hood. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
Under the care of specialists, the Targa-top has been refitted, interior refurbishments were completed, and the gauges and wiring have been replaced. A period-correct radio has been installed along with a new antenna, an upgraded Rockville sound system, and a Porsche Bluetooth head unit.
This Carrera is equipped with a rebuilt air-cooled 2.7-liter flat-six engine sending power to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual gearbox. The seller notes that the engine was disassembled and the magnesium case was repaired in preparation for the full engine rebuild. The case was line-bored and fitted with new internals, and the top end was sent out for machining and all new valves. The gearbox and limited-slip differential were also completely redone.
This sale will include a clean title.

Underside photo of the rear decklid has been added. It is the original rear spoiler and is noted on the CoA in photo 98. The gold forged wheels and side model script were also part of the package. Don't forget to look at the invoices starting on photo 89, as well. Thanks.
