Up for auction is this 1974 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe presented in Light Yellow over a black leather interior. Having been under the care of its original owner up until 2 years ago, this beautifully configured 1974 example has had its original motor swapped in favor of a larger 3.0 L flat-six engine with greater horsepower. Accompanied by extensive service records, this 911 is now being offered for auction in excellent running order showing approximately 92k miles on the odometer.
This 911 was professionally refinished in its factory original color of Light Yellow during the early 2000’s. The seller notes the exterior to be in great overall condition with some minor signs of road going wear and a minor blemish near the driver’s door handle (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery). Offering iconic air-cooled styling, this coupe features a factory rear ducktail spoiler as well as “Carrera” side script logos along both doors. Other factory options include tinted glass and forged aluminum Fuchs wheels with black center inserts.
Inside, this 911 retains a largely original black leather interior with recently reupholstered front seats. Noteworthy details include a power operated sunroof and a dealer installed air conditioning system. The seller indicates that both the speedometer and odometer have recently stopped working, however all other gauges, electrical components and accessories remain fully functional.
In 1994, this Carrera’s original 2.7 L engine was swapped out in favor of a larger 3.0 L flat-six engine by Jones Autowerks in San Antonio, Texas. The resulting increase in power and all-around engine performance makes this Carrera an absolute pleasure to drive. Power is sent to the rear wheels by way of a smooth 5-speed manual transmission. In 2018, an all-new axle assembly was installed along with new 993 valve cover gaskets. A recent full service was completed which included new rear calipers and fresh brake pads all around as well as fluid and filter changes. Accompanied by a comprehensive collection of service records, this 911 is stated to be up to date on all due maintenance. The seller has noted that the exhaust manifolds are cracked, however this 911 is said to be in excellent running order.
The sale of this Carrera will include one key, extensive service records, the original buyer’s order, original tools and a clear title. If you have been in search of a well maintained air-cooled 911 with classic styling, this eye catching 1974 example makes an excellent choice.

Years ago, the addition of a 3 liter was a huge improvement to any mid-year 911. Though the 2.7 in the 1974’s can be rebuilt and are fairly robust, plugging in an aluminum case 3 liter was an instant horsepower gain. Mid years have some great features and bridge the gap between the early cars and the SC’s.
A couple things to note here, the rear reflector is from an 1987 or newer. The black lettered center reflectors are NLA, unless someone has started to make them again. Also, it appears that the rear bumper struts are newer replacements. I suspect there was a minor rear end collision here. However, the rear longitudinal ends are straight and look good, so what ever happened was fairly minor. Not unusual on a 35 plus year old car. A set of headers or SSI’s will be a big improvement especially with a sport muffler.
Great color combos and not a bad starting point for entry into an air cooled car.

@JNasty 1) I have the COA, will send that in now... Interior was noted as cinnamon... no evidence of that ever being the car but will send the COA now.
2) A/C needs to be serviced & charged. Nothing major I believe, other than this issues listed, the car runs and drives great!
3) Clean MA title
@seller, 1) aside from the 3.0, any deviations from the COA? You did not post it. 2) AC working? 3) anything but ODO and manifolds NOT working/need addressing? 4) Cat or non Cat/ca model? 5) clear MA title?
