In 1974, Porsche produced just 56 road-going examples of the Carrera RS 3.0 to homologate the 3.0-liter RSR factory race car. One of the rarest and most coveted Porsches ever made, the Carrera RS 3.0 features a detuned version of the RSR’s engine along with a limited-slip differential, wider fenders, stiffened suspension, and powerful brakes borrowed from the legendary 917 race car. This example began life as a 1978 Porsche 911SC Coupe and has since been completely restored to FIA-approved 3.0 RS specifications by classic partner Porsche Lorient Racing. Accompanied by a historic racing passport and restoration invoices totaling over €200k, this newly built RS 3.0 tribute is now being offered for auction out of France.
The body of this 911 was completely stripped during its restoration and reinforced with an FIA-compliant roll cage by the experts at RV Classic in France. The 3.0 RS bodywork includes a fiberglass front bumper with brake ducts and an oil cooler, a large “Whale Tail” rear spoiler, and flared fenders to accommodate wider wheels and tires. The car is finished in White and equipped with racing tow hooks, hood and decklid pins, a chrome driver’s side mirror, and 15” Fuchs wheels with gold-painted centers and Michelin Course tires.
The lightweight racing interior includes a pair of OMP bucket seats, an OMP three-spoke steering wheel, GT2i safety harnesses, RS door panels, a brake bias adjuster, a Wevo shifter, and a fire suppression system. The seller notes all safety equipment is newly installed and ready for use.
The original Carrera RS 3.0 carried an aluminum version of the RSR’s 3.0-liter flat-six engine producing up to 230 HP. The engine is this 911 is said to have been built to the same specifications by Mittelmotor GMBH in Germany and features twin-plug heads, individual throttle bodies, stainless-steel exhaust, solid mounts, and a mechanical fuel injection (MFI) pump restored and tuned to RS specs by Eisenbrandt. The car rides on adjustable coilover suspension and includes four-piston aluminum 917 brakes paired with ventilated and cross-drilled discs at each corner.
This sale will include restoration records and racing certification documents.

Has it seen any track time? How much? No intake air filtration always makes me nervous, especially on a street car so, yes, I would see this as a track car only as it is set up.

@moregas this car is made for racing but can be street used of course, the car engine is reving ok, the video was taken on an open road so it was inappropriate to drive it to fast there, the tail is an aftermarket, I don’t see the point to having the real thing on a tribute car and the transmission gears are like they were set on the real RS.
Nice looking car. it sounds as if the car idles at 2500 RPM+ in both videos;can you comment if that is the case? Clearly an effort was made to fix this? Not really a great street car trait.
Are the gears stock in the trans? Is the tail a factory RS or RSR tail or an aftermarket pc? Thx
