Introduced in 1972, the Moto Guzzi Eldorado motorcycle enjoyed commercial success throughout the 70s as the premier police bike used by the California Highway Patrol and Los Angeles Police Department. This 1974 example is a modified police bike featuring a 949cc OHV V-twin engine and a 5-speed manual transmission. It comes equipped with an electric siren, a radio box, spotlights, a double-sprung seat, an electric starter, chrome Lafranconi mufflers, and Dell’Orto VHB carburetors. Having been under the owner’s care since 2006, this Moto Guzzi Eldorado Police is now being offered for auction out of New York.
The bike is finished in black and tan paint with chrome accents and a black leather double-sprung saddle. Accessories include a high clear windscreen, dual amber spotlights, Dietz-style front turn signals, red taillights, a side stand, a locking toolbox, a rear-mounted police radio box, a chrome pullback handlebar, dual mirrors, and 18” Borrani wire-spoke alloy wheels dressed in Dunlop D404 tires. The rider is positioned ahead of an aluminum police-style dashboard with accessory lights and a Veglia Borletti speedometer.
Originally displacing 844cc, the OHV V-twin engine has been rebuilt and bored out to a 949cc displacement along with the installation of 30mm Dell’Orto VHB carburetors, a dual exhaust with Lafranconi mufflers, and an electric starter. Power is sent to the rear through a 5-speed transmission with a single-plate dry clutch and an enclosed driveshaft. The bike rides on a telescopic front fork and a rear swing arm with dual Hagon shock absorbers. Stopping power comes from a two-piston Brembo disc brake in front and a 200mm drum at the rear.
This sale will include a clean title.

@DrT Yes, serious. Let's discuss elsewhere. Try my handle on the email platform that starts with G. If that doesn't work, you can get my info from Abhi or Gray at Iconic.
@sfmonster23 @sfmonster23: hmmmm... I would consider selling the Greg Bender bike if you're serious. What are you thinking? Dave
DRJoel; we've loved ever Moto Guzzi we've ever owned; from a 500cc single through more than a few Loop Frames to a recent Stelvio. They're all fabulous. I recently bought the Greg Bender bike on Iconic. Installed a correct windshield, had the carbs rebuilt, added aircleaners. changed all fluids including rear & tranny. My wife & I took it for a 100 mile ride just yesterday; lovely. Another fab bike...
@drt
Very well done!
@DrT Let me know if you decide you want to sell this one or your other one. Is the other one the Greg Bender bike you picked up on Iconic?

I just watched the riding video again. This bike is a dream machine. Effortless shifting and smooth in the corners. I could ride it all day. An excellent purchase at this price and quite a bit more.
Love, love, love this bike!!
I'm the rider in the video. I've put quite a few miles on this bike. It is a joy to ride. As the owner says, "You'll never be lonely again". People love to admire the bike and want to know all about it. It is stable, handles beautifully, and has excellent brakes. Even the seat is very comfortable. The windshield provides lots of protection. The owner has restored many bikes and he always buys quality and does impeccable work. The new owner is going to enjoy the motorcycle.
@DrT thanks and sorry for the delay!
Cheers,
Colter

@DrT they are such great bikes!
It’s funny, your stable sounds similar to ours.
We just sold the R69S and have a Bonneville as well.
Enjoy your bike! They are so great in every way. Just be judicious with your siren use!
Thanks,
Colter
I bought one of these ('73 850 Eldorado), fully restored; last month. It is the most relaxed, enjoyable classic bike we've ever owned. It feels a bit revvy at 70 mph but chugs down country roads so well at 45-50 and fifth gear is good all the way down to 30; even two-up. Never fails to draw a crowd of admirers who have no idea what it is; but like how it looks. Much more pleasant riding bike than our R69S, Indian Chief, & Bonneville; all requiring kick starting (and Guzzis are electric start). For a classic, these really are superb usable bikes. If we hadn't just bought one, I'd be all over this. This one is a beauty.
