Designed by Wilhelm Hofmeister and produced from 1968 to 1975, the BMW E9 was a series of grand touring coupes whose legendary racing counterparts enjoyed success throughout the European Touring Car Championship. This fully restored 1974 example is a BMW 3.0 CSi finished in Ceylon Metallic, featuring a fuel-injected inline-six engine paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. It is said to have been acquired from a private BMW 3.0 collection in Atlanta, Georgia, and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Michigan.
The E9 is one of the most iconic BMW designs of all time, featuring traditional front kidney grilles, pillarless windows, and Hofmeister Kinks decorated with BMW roundels. This example was refinished in the current shade of Ceylon Metallic (8) during restoration and the original Karmann body tags show the factory color to have been Sienna Brown (9). It rides on Alpina badged multi-spoke alloy wheels dressed wrapped in Continental Extreme Contact tires from 2020. New seals and gaskets throughout the body are soft and supple, and the rubber on the bumpers is described to be in very nice condition. A plate holder, which may have been used for a rectangular German license plate, folds down several degrees to reveal the trunk lock button. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The restored black interior is appointed with cloth-trimmed bucket seats, a large steering wheel, a wooden gear knob, and a wood-trimmed upper dashboard with a suite of metric VDO gauges. A modern stereo unit has been installed below the array of vents for the HVAC system.
Beneath the forward-canting hood is a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine featuring a 9.5:1 compression ratio, Bosch electronic fuel injection, and an output of up to 200 HP. The seller notes a 4-speed manual gearbox has been installed to replace the factory automatic transmission.
This sale will include a clean title, a toolkit, and a spare tire.

@Leonardway there is a cold start video in the listing but I will attach it here. Regarding a driving video, we still have salt on the roads here in Michigan... so I'm not taking it outside yet.

@Leonardway no known mechanical issues and unfortunately, we do not have the records you seek. We will get a mechanic out here early next week to perform a PPI as other interested parties have similar requests. Stay tuned.
Seller, Please provide more specifics for the maintenance and replacements? When was the timing belt/chain & clutch last replaced? Have compression tests been performed lately? The brakes have a fair amount of rust on them. Has the braking system been worked through? Are there any mechanical issues?
