The BMW 2002tii (Touring Injection International) debuted in 1971 with Kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection, which offered a substantial increase in both performance and reliability. This 1974 example is finished in Chamonix White over a blue vinyl interior and is reported to have remained in California since new. It received a full repaint in 1990 as well as extensive maintenance and upgrades throughout the car's life including the recent installation of new brakes, tires, a new radiator, battery, and a new rear differential. This 2002tii is now being offered at auction by its seller out of California.

This 2002 was refinished in its factory color of Chamonix White (085) under prior ownership during the 1990s. Equipment includes dual side mirrors, later model square taillights, a sunroof, a single polished exhaust outlet, a chrome grille, window surrounds, and front and rear bumpers with over-riders. The original 13” wheels wear BMW roundel center caps and Achilles Platinum tires.

The interior is upholstered in blue vinyl with matching door panels and carpeting. Equipment includes a heater, a rear window defroster, manual front windows, pop-out rear windows, and a glovebox. The original radio has been swapped out for an aftermarket unit and the original dashboard clock is said to be fully functional.

The 2002tii is powered by a fuel-injected 2.0L M10 inline-four cylinder engine rated at 130 HP and 131 lb.-ft of torque, sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual gearbox. The seller reports this car has been regularly maintained, and recent service includes new brakes at all four corners, new tires, a new radiator, a new battery, a new rear differential, and an oil and filter change. The seller reports the handbrake warning light appears intermittently even when the handbrake is disengaged.

This sale will include a clean title.

    @mayart Greetings,
    The two front seats were redone, and, they are much younger than 1974.
    There is the Fuel Tank Vent tube, the FTV, budded at the corner, there are NO
    separation, nor any crack

  • n_l (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

    @mayart - I thought there was a separation there, too, but I don't believe that's the case. There are a row of clips that hold what I believe is a fuel vent line in place that runs along the passenger-side wheel well. In looking at picture sof other 2002 trunk interiors (and remembering the trunk of my own from years ago), I believe that's what we're looking at. It's not a separation, it's a hose and is stock to the car.

  • mayart (registered bidder) 2 years, 7 monthsago

    @seller are the front seat and back seat two different shades of blue? Also in photo 83 can you explain why that large gap/separation of the trunk floor and the wheel well/shock tower on the right side?

  • joekitt 2 years, 7 monthsago

    Can you please show better pics of the lower front valence? It appears to be a bit rough

  • FORMULAONE (seller) 2 years, 7 monthsago

    @finallygonedark Greetings,
    There are NO rust . . .
    This 2002 was sold new and, has been driven in Southern California
    A beautiful warm weather climate with NO snow nor, salty roads.
    All four cylinder's compressions are above 135 psi...
    Checked on 02-22-22 during tune-up...
    The 4-SPEED tranny shifts smooth through all gears and
    all four synnchros mesh with no gridding.
