Available for auction is this restored 1974 BMW 2002 finished in Sienna Brown over a tan interior. Following car importer Max Hoffman's request for a sporting version of BMW's 02-Series to be sold in the US, the 2002 was developed featuring a 2.0-liter version of the M10 inline-four engine. The seller reports that this second-generation example was found at a local repair shop and subsequently underwent a full restoration including a refinish in Sienna Brown, refurbished wheels, new heater cables, a new heater motor, new gaskets, new carpeting, serviced locks, updated headlights, and more. It is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New Jersey.

This 2002 has been refinished in Sienna Brown within the last year and rides on factory 13” wheels with center BMW roundels and Kumho Solus TA11 tires from 2020. Each wheel, including the spare, is said to have been restored, painted in BMW Silver, and fitted with new center caps. Equipment includes dual side mirrors, later model square taillights, a single polished exhaust outlet, chrome trim and window surrounds, and front and rear bumpers with over-riders. The front left fender is said to have been replaced along with a new side marker light due to rust. Additionally, the seller notes that the original windows remain and all body seals were replaced during the restoration. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The tan interior features matching seats and door panels, new brown carpeting, black dash and center console trim, roll-up windows, a four-spoke steering wheel, and a wood-trimmed gauge cluster. The locks are said to have been serviced with new doorframe switches added along with a Blaupunkt radio, USB port, and new speakers. All gauges and accessories are reported to be working properly.

This 2002 is said to be powered by its original 2.0-liter SOHC inline-four engine featuring an upgraded Weber carburetor, which sends power to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission. Mechanical services are reported to include replacing the entire cooling system, an oil change, adding new spark plugs and wires, and replacement of hoses.

This sale will include a clean title, spare tire, car cover, and owner’s manuals.

The seller would like you to know: "The car was completely taken apart. New heater cables and blower motor were installed, every single piece of trim was refinished, all new clips were installed, and gaskets were replaced. Additionally, new sound-deadening and carpets were installed, all locks were serviced, and headlights were updated. Smooth cold start and drivability make it a dream to drive!"

@Ambrosia As the owner of 70's/80's BMW's it is common for misalignments of panels, I'd be hard pressed to find one that has perfect gaps around the whole car, as BMW was pumping these cars out at the time. it was quantity over quality in that regard, however the M10 is still one of the best in terms of quality, an engine that loves to live near red line, and for the size, is a lot of fun.

    Beautiful Example! GLWA (@Seller)
