Marking the final year of the classic long-hood F-Body Porsche 911, this 911E Targa is one of 1,055 examples produced in 1973. It was acquired by the seller in 2023 and has since been refinished in Arctic Silver Metallic along with the installation of wide steel fender flares, a carbon fiber air intake, a MOMO steering wheel, Recaro bucket seats, RS door panels, a Dansk GT3-style muffler, RSR hood straps, 16” Fuchs-style wheels, fiberglass bumpers, and an upgraded 3.2-liter flat-six engine paired with a 5-speed 915 manual transaxle. Showcasing over $115k worth of recent work, this customized 911E Targa is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California with less than 8k miles on its rebuilt motor.

The Targa was completely refinished in Arctic Silver Metallic in April 2023 after being modified with rear 911SC steel fender flares, a fiberglass 911S-style front bumper, and an RS-style rear bumper. Other additions include dual chrome mirrors, RSR-style hood straps, 911R-style taillights, dual center-mounted tailpipes, and polished 16” Maxilite Fuchs RSR-style wheels measuring 7” wide in front and 9” wide in the rear. A set of new Bridgestone Potenza tires was installed in May 2023 and an additional set of OEM 16" Fuchs wheels is said to be included. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The black interior includes charcoal carpeting, woodgrain dashboard trim, a pair of aftermarket Recaro bucket seats, RS-style door panels, and a three-spoke MOMO Prototipo steering wheel. The seller adds that the turn signal switch and emergency brake boot were replaced during their ownership.

Using the case from a 1977 Porsche 911 Turbo, the flat-six engine in this Targa has been custom-built featuring 95mm Mahle pistons, 3.2L cams, a Euro-spec CIS fuel distributor, oil-fed Carrera chain tensioners, a carbon fiber airbox, SSI heat exchangers, and a Dansk GT3-style muffler. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed 915 manual transaxle and stopping power comes from disc brakes with upgraded cross-drilled front rotors. The seller notes that engine leakdown test results readings are within 3% on average and a fresh oil and filter change was performed using Redline synthetic oil.

This sale will include a toolkit, a spare tire, the original front door pockets, a collection of miscellaneous parts, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “This beautifully maintained 1973 911E Porsche has been super-well maintained over the years.  The freshly rebuilt 3.2 Liter has less than 10k miles on it.  Everything works on this solid 911 Porsche.  It runs like a dream.  The 3.2 liter is very strong and makes the drive that much more exhilarating.  I live in the Napa Wine Country area and I live to drive the backroads listening to the musical sound of the 3.2 Liter Flat-6 Engine forcing a smile all the while hitting the curves.  I've owned over twenty (20) 911 Porsches since 1988 and this Targa is 1 of the best I've owned.  I now own 3 air-cooled 911's (1996 993 Carrera-2, 1975 911S w/3.0 Liter, and this Targa) - I'm near age 70 and need to turn it down a bit, so this one has to go.”

Hello I'm not 100% on rear camber settings as ill have to consult with my mechanic to find out fir sure. This 911 drives very tight and smooth. Bith rear tires are still in excellent shape.

  • Bikebunky1 (registered bidder) 8 months, 2 weeksago

How much neg camber in the rear. Looks excessive

  • raymondz993 (seller) 8 months, 2 weeksago

Yes Sir! I'll still be in the Air-Cooled Family. I will still enjoy my 1996 993 Carrera-2 Coupe w/Sunroof. As well, I'll hang on to my 1975 911S w/3.0 Liter fresh Rebuild. My wife is hurt about me selling my 3.2 Liter '73 Hotrod, but I had to make a hard decision as we have 3-Car garage. Plus, ill be retiring soon myself. Anyway, my wife's new electric Audi will now squeeze among my other 2 Air-Cooled Beauties.

  • Nixtfy (registered bidder) 8 months, 2 weeksago

This looks like a really nice hot rod. A 73’ 911 with a 3.2 really scoots. I have almost the exact twin. A silver 73’ 3.2 Targa built with all the components from a 86’ 911. This might not be the right car for a first time Porsche buyer. Scary fast! Adrenaline pumping carving canyons white knuckled. The hot rod exhaust just adds to the experience. After owning 5 air cooled 911’s. One a 930. My 73’ 3.2 targa is the one I decided to keep. GLWTA

For the record for whoever wins auction please note that wiring for stereo is still present but hidden behind dash paneling. Wiring for speakers can easily be routed from stereo source. Also, I forgot to add with pics that I have a few misc parts that I'll put in 911 Targa. Original door pockets, original shifter mechanism, windshield fluid reservoir and many small misc. original items. I'll send pictures of all extra items to winner of bid as soon as I can.

Yes!!! Nothing like the sound of an Air-Cooled Engine, especially hitting backroads in Napa Wine Country. No music? The sound of this 3.2 Liter is the music that Dr. Ferdinand P. produced for our enjoyment and meant for us to appreciate the distinctive sound. Thanks!

  • sportscarguy3 (registered bidder) 8 months, 2 weeksago

Radio delete, correct. No music, no radio no speakers no wiring.
    Very nice Porsche regardless
    Enjoy your vacation in Bali

  • raymondz993 (seller) 8 months, 3 weeksago

Yes Sir. It's a 3 2 Liter Engine build with 930 Turbo Engine Casing. The Euro CIS Distributor works very efficiently allowing solid acceleration without any hesitation. Thanks!

  • mendez (registered bidder) 8 months, 3 weeksago

Is that really a 3.2L? I can see it has a CIS system based on the Fuel Distributor, auxiliary air slide and air flow system.

  • raymondz993 (seller) 8 months, 3 weeksago

Potenza Bridgestone Tires are on both.
