Produced in the latter half of the 1973 model year, this Porsche 911T Targa represents the final production run of the original long-hood 911 body style and the introduction of the improved Bosch CIS fuel injection system. One of approximately 500 “1973.5” Targa models produced, this 911 was sold new at West Porsche-Audi of Monterey, California, finished in Sepia Brown over tan upholstery. It came factory-equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission, optional front and rear stabilizer bars, 15” Fuchs forged alloy wheels, the Appearance Group, and Recaro Sport Seats. A lifelong California car, this 911T Targa is said to have been acquired by the seller in 2023 from the original owner and is now being offered for auction accompanied by the original window sticker, toolkit, and a lifetime of service records.
This 911T is finished in Sepia Brown and features a brushed stainless-steel Targa bar, a removable black roof panel, and polished rocker panel trim included with the Appearance Package. Other equipment includes H4 headlamps, black bumperettes, a fender-mounted antenna, a chrome driver’s side mirror, a “2.4” decklid grille badge, and factory 15” Fuchs forged alloy wheels. The seller believes the passenger-side front fender and rear quarter panel were refinished under prior ownership. Noted imperfections include a small rust spot on the right front fender and rear quarter and a small dent near the driver’s door mirror. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The tan interior features factory-optioned Recaro Sport Seats and the Appearance Package which adds a leather-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel and combination gauge for oil pressure and battery voltage. Other accessories include manually operated windows, a fresh air vent, a heater, a locking glovebox, variable-speed windshield wipers, and a Pioneer CD stereo. The seller notes a small crack on the dashboard.
Featuring Bosch CIS fuel injection, the air-cooled 2.4-liter 911/91 flat-six engine delivers a factory-rated output of 140 HP to the rear wheels through a 5-speed 915 manual transaxle. The car is equipped with four-wheel disc brakes and optional front and rear stabilizer bars. The seller notes the engine and transmission are original to the car, the transmission was previously rebuilt, and all service records are available dating back to the original owner's purchase.
This sale will include the original window sticker, a toolkit, a spare tire, service records, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Very rare 73.5 first of the CFI injection system replacing the mechanical. Approximately 500 73.5 targets ever built, highly original and in excellent condition. This 911 drives, shifts and runs very smooth, this car is extremely authentic and original, right front fender was painted right quarter panel was painted. There are several small cracks in the dash which may be repaired. You will not be disappointed in this vehicle either as a collector or daily driver."

Love this car. I have a 70-911T California car that I bought from the original owner’s estate. The car was sold originally in Redondo Beach. Also owned a 73S original owner car bought when he was an air force pilot in Germany. I love these early 70s Porsches.
@scoobydone To answer the seat question, and I’m no expert, but here you are looking at Recaro Sports Seats (an option) that have higher bolsters versus the original style which was flatter in appearance. Without seeing your seats..that’s my guess.
Not sure what I think of the 73.5 bumper guards… but that’s an easy fix.
GLWTA. THESE ARE SPECIAL CARS.
Wow I remember this color and it looks even better today! Also love the all black bumper impact guards that really gave the long nose a cleaner sportier look. Very nice car!

I'll just say this about 73.5: the CIS T is a lovely motor for driving around town, torquey, reliable, sweet.... I had one and an MFI, totally different character, but the CIS makes for a great "driver". (also the bumperettes come off ;-)
@ScoobyDone I am not aware if there were any other seats besides the standard low bucket this car has the optional Recaro sport buckets.

I have an all original 1973.5 sepia brown 911T- only it is a coupe. It is in exceptionally good condition. The seat are a darker brown and different style. Does anyonbe know if more than one type of seat was offered for this model/year? Or were different seats offered with the targa?
