Produced in the latter half of the 1973 model year, this Porsche 911T Targa represents the final production run of the original long-hood 911 body style and the introduction of the improved Bosch CIS fuel injection system. One of approximately 500 “1973.5” Targa models produced, this 911 was sold new at West Porsche-Audi of Monterey, California, finished in Sepia Brown over tan upholstery. It came factory-equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission, optional front and rear stabilizer bars, 15” Fuchs forged alloy wheels, the Appearance Group, and Recaro Sport Seats. A lifelong California car, this 911T Targa is said to have been acquired by the seller in 2023 from the original owner. As previously listed on PCARMARKET, this example is now being offered for auction accompanied by the original window sticker, toolkit, and a lifetime of service records.

This 911T is finished in Sepia Brown and features a brushed stainless-steel Targa bar, a removable black roof panel, and polished rocker panel trim included with the Appearance Package. Other equipment includes H4 headlamps, black bumperettes, a fender-mounted antenna, a chrome driver’s side mirror, a “2.4” decklid grille badge, and factory 15” Fuchs forged alloy wheels. The seller believes the passenger-side front fender and rear quarter panel were refinished under prior ownership. Noted imperfections include a small rust spot on the right front fender and rear quarter and a small dent near the driver’s door mirror. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The tan interior features factory-optioned Recaro Sport Seats and the Appearance Package which adds a leather-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel and combination gauge for oil pressure and battery voltage. Other accessories include manually operated windows, a fresh air vent, a heater, a locking glovebox, variable-speed windshield wipers, and a Pioneer CD stereo. The seller notes a small crack on the dashboard.

Featuring Bosch CIS fuel injection, the air-cooled 2.4-liter 911/91 flat-six engine delivers a factory-rated output of 140 HP to the rear wheels through a 5-speed 915 manual transaxle. The car is equipped with four-wheel disc brakes and optional front and rear stabilizer bars. The seller notes the engine and transmission are original to the car, the transmission was previously rebuilt, and all service records are available dating back to the original owner's purchase.

This sale will include the original window sticker, a toolkit, a spare tire, service records, and a clean title.

    @Elmo FYI, the 1973.5 911T that is also sepia brown, I purchase last year for $89,000. The car has 82,400 original miles on it. The car is completely original and has been maintained in a climate controlled environment for the last 30+ years. It has 161, 164, 165, 165, 164, 165 PSI on the compression test and does not leak one drop. The all original interior has no cracks or tears. Everything works perfectly and it runs perfectly too. There are two (2) touched-up very minor blemishes in the paint that are very hard to find. The recent paint correction makes the car look brand new. All original means some darkening of the metal on the underside and fading of metal and plastic in the engine room. Also some slight drying of the seals around the windows. 100&% original though- except for windshield wiper blades, oil change and a belt or two. The period and factory correct tyres are 6 years old. Will need suspension componentry in the near term I believe. Service records indicate that only 680 miles have been logged on it since 1995-- and its pristine condition confirms it. This bone stock car came with a gaggle of show awards for the original class. I don't know if this helps seller or potential buyer in any way since the market seems to be changing. And who knows, I may not have paid the appropriate price. My Haggerty's guy is a regional manager for them- company- he suggested I insure it for $110k. BTW, I will be putting more than 680 miles on it this summer. GLWTA. you are offering a beautiful car.

    @MorrisBrothersRyan thank you for your kind reply@ Morrisbrothersryan.
    A 1973 Porsche 911 T in good condition, repainted and not original with average specs can be expected to sell for around $63,000.
    The highest selling price for a 1973 Porsche 911 T at auction in the last three years was $260,000. that said, this vehicle, as a 1973.5 Targa one of the last of the long nose and the first of the CFI is a one of approximately 500 in the world. Feel free to do your own research, not only is this vehicle extremely rare, it is very original, unmolested never repainted except for the right fender and right rear quarter panel and runs and drives the same… perfect! I would challenge to find another all original 1973.5 Targa in this original condition available for sale. Thanks again for your respectful & positive comments.

    Hey @Elmo beautiful car you have here. Would you mind elaborating a bit on what makes this car so collectible outside of the Recaro sport seats? This car was one of the top auction sales for a 2.4 Targa in the last two years and I am sure a large part was the one owner status in 23. Thanks!

  • Elmo (seller) 1 monthago

    Apologize for the late reply, thank you for your interest, I purchased this vehicle from the original owner, a doctor out of Orange county CA. Besides @Scoobydone the I don’t believe the majority of the comments were individuals that have much knowledge & appreciation of the rarity this vehicle is. this car is not for …That said, for a true Porsche long nose enthusiast that understands the value I’m willing to be more flexible & make a deal that’s reasonable.

  • Ethandhart (registered bidder) 1 monthago

    @Chipper where is this heading?

  • Ethandhart (registered bidder) 1 monthago

    Why did the car not sell last auction? Is there a reserve for this auction?

  • GoBlue91 (registered bidder) 1 monthago

    @Chipper @stephenolitsky
    yes winning bid was $73,000. It was in the dealtank for $120,000 until a week ago.

  • Chipper (registered bidder) 1 month, 1 weekago

    You don't wanna know. I think $120k!

  • stephenolitsky (registered bidder) 1 month, 1 weekago

    @Chipper what was the ask on dealtank?

  • ScoobyDone (registered bidder) 1 month, 1 weekago

    Beautiful sepia brown 911T.
    Mine is also a 1973.5 sepia brown 911T with the 2.4 litre CIS motor- but is not a targa. Haven't seen too many of these here or on BaT. While some may not appreciate this color as much as the yellows and greens available that year, I can confirm it is beautiful to see in person. The tan and chocolate interior is perfect. The 2.4 litre is plenty for this light and nimble machine. Here is your early model long-hood 911- get it bought.

  • Chipper (registered bidder) 1 month, 1 weekago

    Why run it again out of the deal tank. Unless it's no reserve we all know whether this is heading again.
