This 1973.5 Porsche 911T Coupe is part of a collection of cars that were damaged by a fire in the owner’s barn. It was sold to Nelson (Chip) Hague Leonard in 1977 and purchased by the seller from his North Carolina collection in 2022. It had been formerly refinished in blue and featured an upgraded 2.7-liter “E” spec engine paired with a 5-speed manual transaxle. This 911T is now being offered without reserve as a project car from the owner’s collection in Connecticut.
Originally wearing gold paint, this 911T had been refinished in blue in 2018. The bodywork remains intact after the fire, although the exterior is burnt, and the glass is missing. It retains 15” Fuchs wheels and tires that are suitable for rolling the car.
The cabin exhibits fire damage including a pair of tan leather Recaro sport seats and a three-spoke MOMO steering wheel.
The flat-six engine was previously rebuilt, blueprinted, and upgraded to a 2.7-liter displacement with 911E pistons. The fuel-injection system was replaced with Weber carburetors, and an electronic ignition and aftermarket exhaust were installed. The engine was reportedly overhauled in 2009, and the transmission, clutch, and suspension were refreshed by the current owner. The seller cannot confirm the extent of the mechanical damage from the fire or which parts are salvageable.
This 911T is offered for auction with a Connecticut registration certificate.
The seller would like you to know: "Brief Back Story: A client's barn caught fire, and the fire spread so fast that it was unable to be extinguished. Thus, his entire Porsche collection was burned."

Just wanted to say thank you for all of the interest thus far! We are now in the final day of the auction, and just wanted to clarify that we are happy to assist in prepping each of these cars for transport and loading them onto their respective trailers. Happy bidding!
Switching from the last "before" pic back to the first "after" one is really sobering. Truly a Halloween horror story.
@Bassiq911 The panels lined up very well prior to the fire damage. I would assume the issues present now are related to heat.
can you tell if the tub and panels/doors are warped from heat, or if it’s just physical damage? I’m curious as to why door doesn’t latch and why some panels are out of alignment.

I added photos of the "before" for added context. Hope that helps!

Does it have a pinstripe?

I did not know “burnt” is actually a color, I guess you learn something new everyday. To my untrained eye I’d call it “synged”, but what do I know, I may be fire blind.

@Helix the door does not latch at this time, but we can source a solution to keep the door closed if your concern is transport related. Thanks for your question!
Does the passenger door close and latch? Thank you.

Welcome to our "spooky" listings of several fire-damaged Porsche 911s this week! Happy to answer questions throughout the auction process... although the pictures should truly speak for themselves in this unfortunate scenario.
Happy Halloween!
