Up for auction is this nearly complete 1973 Porsche 911T 3.2 L build.  Purchased by its owner in Canada as a project car in 2003, this 911 has since been imported to the U.S., completely disassembled and customized from the ground up with RSR-style body panels, a 964 3.8-type spoiler, 17” Fuchs wheels, and a full bare-metal respray in Orange.  Top-of-the-line performance upgrades have also been installed including a Rebel Racing coil-over suspension, Porsche 996 brakes, and a newly rebuilt 3.2 L flat-six Carrera engine.  Accompanied by a vast collection of parts, build records, and a clean title, this 911 is just waiting for its next owner to complete the project to their own personal specifications.  It is now being offered for auction out of Florida with 0 miles driven on the rebuilt engine.

The body of this 911 was taken down to bare metal and completely refinished in Orange.  Steel RSR welded rear fender flares have been installed along with a fiberglass 964 3.8-type spoiler and fiberglass RSR-style bumpers and front fenders.  Other pieces that will accompany the sale include a factory front windshield, rear glass, and door glass, pop-out rear quarter frames, NACA-ducted rear quarter windows and frames, 935-style door mirrors, polycarbonate door windows, a polycarbonate rear window, clear front lens covers, a fiberglass ducktail spoiler, and new rubber seals.  H4 headlights are also included with the sale, although the seller indicates that the fiberglass light buckets will need to be modified to accept them.  17” Euromeister Fuchs wheels are equipped with new BFGoodrich G-Force Sport Comp 2 tires.

The interior remains largely stripped-out except for 2 Kirkey racing seats, a custom bolt-in roll bar, WEVO shifter, steering wheel, instrument gauges, and a rebuilt pedal assembly.  A new headliner will be included in the sale along with aluminum floorboard panels and a dashboard that is said to be in need of refurbishment.

This 911T was fitted with a 930/25 3.2 L flat-six engine sourced from a 1987 Carrera (SN: 64H03500).  The engine was recently completely rebuilt with 0 miles driven since.  The rear wheels are driven by way of a rebuilt type-915 5-speed manual transmission with a brand-new Sachs clutch assembly.  All mechanical systems have been completely rebuilt with new parts and performance upgrades include the following:

  • B&B Exhaust
  • ATL Fuel Cell
  • WEVO Motor Mounts
  • Rebel Racing Coil-Over Suspension
  • Drop Spindles
  • Turbo Tie Rods
  • Porsche 996 Brakes
  • Rebel Racing Brake Hardware

This sale will include all the aforementioned parts, 1 key, build records, and a clean title.  The product of over 460 hours’ worth of painstaking work, this 911 is awaiting a new owner to complete the finishing touches and enjoy the car for years to come.

If you like this color, which I do very much, then this was a great price for the buyer! Updated top-end, suspension rebuild and complete bare metal restoration...wow, what a great partially completed canvas to finish!

@SB911_RSR My mistake, the roll bar is bolted in place.

  • SB911_RSR (seller) 3 years, 6 monthsago

@notoriousjje It is not attached. Part of the options left open for completion. Roll bar or no roll bar. Your choice.

  • notoriousjje (registered bidder) 3 years, 6 monthsago

The interior shots look like there are base plates for an old cage welded in? How is the new roll bar attached to the chassis?

@SB911_RSR Paint colour match was done by Bob's Paint Supply in Longwood FLA using PPG Shop Line System. They have the formula on file if needed.

@artplumber Yes all the parts should fit. I have a paint code based on a colour match to sample.
I'll find it and post later tonight

  • artplumber (registered bidder) 3 years, 6 monthsago

Wondering what paint code that is
Also, can all parts/boxes fit in car for transport?

  • SB911_RSR (seller) 3 years, 6 monthsago

@xiphoid1971 This car is designed for manual window cranks. As noted below, window regulators need to be sourced. Windows and lights are included. They do require installation.

  • xiphoid1971 (registered bidder) 3 years, 6 monthsago

Is the wiring complete and installed for the windows? Am I right in seeing all the windows and windshield in the photos? And lights? They just need installation?

@Restore_84 To clarify Builder and engine builder are the same person.

  • Restore_84 (registered bidder) 3 years, 6 monthsago

Bid with confidence, I have seen this car in person and pictures don’t do it justice. Well thought out combination. The builder is very talented and the the car is perfectly sorted. The new owner will be very happy…The engine builder on this build also completed my 1979 930 Turbo engine build. Work of art, he truly loves his craft. Personally watching the assembly process is like watching a Swiss watch maker assemble his masterpiece. Same care and passion was taken on this build.

@RyanH Hi Ryan, There is some fibreglass work required in order to fit the headlights and signals. I don't believe it's significant.
The car is completely driveable (runs, moves, steers, stops). Also, the wiring is complete including oil cooler fan, lights, gauges, horns. See the fuse panel photo.
As for missing parts, window regulators need to be sourced and it really depends on what level of finish you want for the interior. I do have a headliner but no carpets or door panels.

  • RyanH (registered bidder) 3 years, 6 monthsago

Are the fitment issues with the headlights specific to them being h4? Meaning, is there anything else wrong with the flares that would prevent original spec lights being installed? Do the turn signals and such fit fine?

Also, what's the current progress of the build? Does the car turnover? What wiring has been run? Any parts missing that may need to be sourced?

@MattShaw Hi Matt, this is an OE build. Rebuilt heads c/w guides, valves and springs. New seals, rings, bearings, chains, ramps, sprockets. Crank micro polished. All balanced. As per @Andoni510, John has completed many fabulous builds and is a graduate of the Jerry Woods engine building program. If you send me a private message I can give you his cel number. He'll be able to give you the specifics.

  • MattShaw (registered bidder) 3 years, 6 monthsago

Scott, can you tell us who did the engine build? Was the a complete OE build? Can you proved basic details on pistons, rods, valves and cams if not OE? Thank you.

Wolf300tt beat me to it. This also reveals that these are turbo quarter panels not RSRs as stated in the description. Seller typically you would do the older style torsion hole if you are going to leave it open. This just looks like you took off the rockers off of a late 80s early 90s turbo.

  • SB911_RSR (seller) 3 years, 6 monthsago

@wolf300tt I was going to leave it open as part of the hot rod look

  • SB911_RSR (seller) 3 years, 6 monthsago

@m3majster It's complicated and not a decision I took lightly

  • wolf300tt (registered bidder) 3 years, 6 monthsago

What was the plan to cover the torsion bar holes in the rear fender flares?

I have seen this car in person. I love projects like this. A lot of the heavy and expensive work has been done. It is a running project where one can enjoy and continue to work on it to one’s liking. I know the engine builder and very meticulous in his builds. I would have been interested on it myself but too many cars currently in my stable. The car is in Sanford, Florida for those that want to inspect the car. The private garage is even equipped with a lift if one wants to inspect the underside. GLWS.
