Among the last 911’s produced with a desirable long hood body style, this 1973 Porsche 911T has been completely transformed as a tribute to the outgoing Carrera RS 2.7 Lightweight. Powered by a 2.7-liter flat-six with Bosch mechanical fuel injection, it has also been tastefully refinished in Light Yellow with RS-style bodywork over black upholstery incorporating RS Lightweight-style bucket seats. Additional equipment includes Bilstein shocks, Turbo-specific tie rod ends, RS-style torsion bars, adjustable aluminum trailing arms, a Quaife limited-slip differential, RS-specification brakes, and much more. This exceptional tribute is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Texas.
Factory-specified in Gemini Blue Metallic, this 911T has been refinished in Light Yellow, a popular 911 2.7 RS shade, adorned with “Carrera” side scripts. Prior to the respray, the body was completely disassembled and modified with fiberglass RS-style bumpers and a fiberglass ducktail rear spoiler molded from an original steel unit. Additional details include a metal hood, black horn grilles, European-specification headlights, chrome mirrors, and 15” Fuchs wheels mounted with Pirelli P6000 tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
Inside, the cabin has been fitted with RS Lightweight-style bucket seats, a roll bar, RS-style door panels with door pulls, a WEVO shifter, and drilled aluminum pedals. The equipment also includes a four-spoke steering wheel, a fire extinguisher, a dashboard storage bin, and lightweight grey square-weave carpeting. Additionally, the radio and rear seats have been removed.
This 911T has been upgraded with a rebuilt 2.7-liter flat-six engine featuring Bosch mechanical fuel injection, 90mm pistons and cylinders, as well as upgraded camshafts and towers. Additional performance enhancements include a front-mounted oil cooler, aftermarket heat exchangers, a replacement fuel tank, and an RS-style rear muffler. The suspension has been upgraded with Bilstein shocks, Turbo-spec tie rod ends, a front strut brace, RS-style torsion bars, adjustable aluminum trailing arms, and a beefier, adjustable rear sway bar. Braking is managed by RS-spec calipers paired with cross-drilled rotors and dual master cylinders. The seller notes that a recent oil service has been completed, with no outstanding maintenance items reported.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like to to know: “Excellent condition 911 RS Lightweight Style car you can drive and enjoy or show and go , if you don’t like a lot of attention this car isn’t for you.”

@flatcrank I expected it to be much higher , but it is what it is , may just have to drive this one for a bit .... and love every mile of it ..
@Lambogas It's valuable to know, I thought perhaps you might have already been asked outside this auction, but I realize it's a little late in the auction. I wrote that question earlier today and neglected to hit "Send." I also expected bidding to be a bit higher and make it a moot question. : )

@MB-porsche I think the Porschephiles accept the "drive-a-like" cars these day. It used to be, when a good RS Lightweight was $200K and a '73 S was $70K, you looked a little silly to buy a ducktail and some stickers. These days, when someone asks me "is it a real one?!" the simple observation is "it's here in public, so, no, it's not a real one." : ) You can show up at a club drive or autocross or track day in one of these and nobody thinks "oh wow, there's a guy with his $1M collectible …"
@MB-porsche Its a killer car
@flatcrank I can try and reach him but dont know if I can before the auction is over
Looks like a nicely built 1973 RS clone, and it's great that it was built on a 1973 T, making it period-correct. RS clones will always be polarizing cars, but they have their appeal.
@Lambogas I wonder if the previous seats and belts, and the steering wheel happen to be still available or included?

Very clean well done Porsche RS 2.7 tribute
Certainly have fun Porsche to owner and drive
A little bright for me, not a fan of the yellow, and I’ve heard it said before, and couldn’t agree more in this case, “ you don’t spit into the wind “ you don’t pull the mask off the old lone ranger “ AND “ you never change a factory color on a Porsche ! !
( especially in this case with Gemini blue
This clean 911 T should still do very well
Good luck all

@flatcrank The car is here in North Houston , I purchased this car about 1 1/2 years ago for a very good customer in Dallas that changed a few things such as the seats and steering wheel , I have uploaded photos of the restoration and some records , and you are correct we havent cleaned the bottom of the car, that isnt grease on the bottom of the car , I am not exactly sure but that appears to be speckled with the black used in the wheel wells

Hello everyone and welcome Im sure there will be plenty of questions so fire away and yes the car is located in Texas
Is the car located in TX or PA?
This one is quite the presentation.
º looking forward to documentation on build, engine, ownership, history
º 12V and battery dated 2018 suggests this was a 6K mile driven project
º underbody looks to be cleaned but not degreased (commendable)
º solid engine mounts, wevo … not going for period correct tribute, this was built to be driven
º the most important and first point of the description is the tie-rods? : )
I hope the seller has acquired and shares documentation on the build, especially the engine and transmission, the body and paint and perhaps how it comes to be in PA at a Hyundai dealer. : )
