The Jaguar E-Type, or XKE as it was marketed in North America, is one of the most iconic automobiles of the twentieth century and was acclaimed for its high-powered engines, disc brakes, independent suspension, and unitary construction. The XKE Series III was introduced in 1971 featuring a longer wheelbase, standard power steering, and a new 5.3-liter V12 engine. This 1973 Jaguar XKE Series III Roadster is equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission. Benefitting from a recent service completed in preparation for sale, this Jaguar is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York.

The XKE Series III is identifiable by its flared wheel arches, cross-slatted front grille, and a V12 badge on the rear. This Open Two-Seater (OTS) Roadster has been refinished in a dark blue color and features a folding tan convertible top with a matching boot cover. Other equipment includes a vented clamshell bonnet, U.S. specification bumpers and lights, a polished driver’s side mirror, a chrome rear luggage rack, dual central exhaust outlets, and factory 15” chrome pressed steel wheels with Jaguar-crested hubcaps. Imperfections are noted including several dents and paint chips, detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin is upholstered in tan leather with matching carpets and a black dashboard. Equipment includes a black leather Jaguar-crested shift knob, a three-spoke leather steering wheel, roll-up windows, a locking glovebox, analog Smiths instrumentation, and a vintage British Leyland radio. The interior exhibits signs of wear and patina.

This XKE is equipped with a naturally aspirated 5.3-liter Jaguar V12 SOHC engine modified with four SU carburetors, an upgraded ignition control module, and a custom exhaust. The Series III version comes with uprated disc brakes and power rack and pinion steering as standard equipment. The seller indicates the car was recently inspected and serviced with new fluids. The seller adds that the brake hydraulic system is in need of service.

This sale will include a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “Car was owned in a private collection for several years, always garage kept and taken care of. The car runs and drives great no issues, shifts great, it has been maintained meticulously.”

@AtomRacer not sure, cars in excellent condition, absolutely no rust, was kept in a weather controlled facility it’s whole life, and has been restored and well cared for, looks like the weather coating underneath needs to be re done, thanks

@prmnorton1 - images 154,156, 157, 159 and 160 and perhaps others show what appears to be flaking of the material beneath the undercoating. Can you explain/comment on this?

@AtomRacer after the full restoration it was coded with a weatherproofing seal. It helps to prevent rust and weathering. Ty
