The third and final iteration of the Jaguar E-Type was introduced in 1971 featuring a new 5.3-liter V12 engine with quadruple Zenith carburetors. This 1973 Jaguar E-Type is a Series III Roadster finished in black over a matching leather interior. It comes equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential, four-wheel disc brakes, 15” knock-off wire wheels, power steering, and air conditioning. Accompanied by a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate showing matching engine numbers, this E-Type Roadster V12 was restored less than 10 years ago and is now being offered for auction out of Connecticut.
The Series III E-Type is distinguishable from its predecessors by its flared wheel arches, large cross-slatted front grille, and quad exhaust tips. This Roadster is said to have been refinished in black in 2016 along with the replacement of the black canvas soft top. The floors were also refinished following rust removal at this time. Equipment includes backdated chrome bumper guards, dual chrome mirrors, hood louvers, and chrome 15” wire spoke wheels with knock-off spinners and Michelin XW4 tires that were mounted within the last 300 miles. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The interior was reupholstered in 2017 including black leather seats with a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpeting. Accessories a leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel, a polished handbrake lever, manual window cranks, air conditioning, analog Smiths instrumentation, and a Pioneer CD stereo with a satellite radio receiver. The seller states that all gauges and accessories are functional including the air conditioning.
Equipped with four Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, the 5.3-liter V12 engine was factory-rated at 241 HP and 285 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven through a 4-speed manual gearbox and a limited-slip differential. The car is equipped with power steering and four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The seller notes that tuning and carburetor adjustments have been performed in preparation for the next owner.
This sale will include an owner’s manual, service records, a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know:
“We've gone to great lengths to sort this car very well over the last four months. It starts immediately and runs & drives beautifully; I would confidently drive this car anywhere. The car had previously been offered by a dealer who does not know these cars and does not know how to service them. We've corrected everything on the car that is wrong mechanically from a functionality perspective. we had marque experts work on the car, even the air-conditioning was repaired, fully charged and works perfectly.”
